Guest guest
I am new to this group. I have been told I have very low thyroid function. I have tried Sythroid and Thyroxine. Both give me shortness of breath and chest pain . I have been on a low dose. I suffer from SVT and my Drs are saying my thyroid is not functioning properly and that could be a cause of the SVT (heart beats over 200bpm for no reason) I am 53 years old and on no medication at this time. I am terrified of more SVT. I seem very sensitive to medication even beta blockers. Anyone have any info on this problem?
Guest guest
Before you address the thyroid issue, I believe you have to have a full evaluation by a good cardiologist, EKG, Blood Work, Stress Echo Test. Your heart must be protected, and thyroid medication can hurt your heart so that is why I suggest going to a cardiologist first, and also mentioning to him your thyroid problems. I have tried Sythroid and Thyroxine.... Synthroid _IS_ thyroxine. I assume you mean a generic for Synthroid. > Both give me shortness of > breath and chest pain . I have been on a low dose. SVT is more commonly associated with hyPERthyroid. What was the evidence of low thyroid function? Have you been taught the Valsalva maneuver to interrupt an episode?
