Guest guest
Hi Janey, I tried again to answer your email, but kept getting bounce back from your account. I hope you don't mind me posting your message here: Hi Janey, I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. 1. About what size chunk of coconut oil and how many days and/or weeks did it take to clear up? I've actually never used coconut oil as a vaginal suppository. Knock on wood - I haven't had a vaginal yeast infection for 4 years now - yay! I didn't even know about coconut oil at that time. I would imagine if you made the coconut oil the size of your baby finger that that would be a good size. Tampon size, I'm guessing? You would just need it to be the right size in order to be able to insert it. 2. Does it take longer than Rx or over the counter yeast products and have you found it works just as well or better? I used to use those over the counter products and they never worked for me. They only reduced some of the symptoms, but I always found that the garlic treatment worked best for me. 3. Also, was the coconut oil irritating at all-inside or outside the area affected? I would imagine it would be soothing, especially if it is cold. I have really dry, painful, cracking on my lips (on my face) and the coconut oil seems to soothe that, so I would imagine it wouldn't irritate you. 4. I am assuming you used it just at night, is this correct? You could use it during the day, but you would definitely want to wear a panty-liner with it since the oil will leak out once it melts. I would imagine it would be very messy. 5. Also, you mentioned garlic, doesn't that really sting? I found that the garlic didn't sting at all. You don't crush the garlic for this treatment. What I did is I took the outer skin off the garlic, leaving the hard end intact. Then I took a needle and thread and put it through the end of the garlic just above the hard part. This will help you get the garlic out afterward. Then I inserted the garlic, just like a tampon, until it was in a comfortable position with the thread hanging out. Just be careful not to scratch yourself with the hard end of the garlic. After a while, you will get a slight taste of garlic in your mouth. If you want a stronger treatment, use a knife and make small cuts in the garlic so the garlic juice can come out a bit. I never found that that stung either. As I said, I found garlic to be the best treatment. You can leave the garlic in all day and all night, although you might want to change it two or three times a day. You will notice a little added discharge, but that's to be expected. You continue to use the 'garlic tampon' until your symptoms go away. Some other ladies on the board have tried this recommendation as well and have reported back that it helped them. It really works! I hope that helps to explain things for you. Yeast infections are the worst! Let me know how it goes and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
