Guest guest
Hello all... I recently started seeing a new general doc and we started talking about my Graves Disease illness. She noted that I should be supplementing with calcium and magnesium since hyperthyroidism depletes these two minerals (I think they are minerals). Anyway, I decided to research her claim and found the information to be accurate. No doctor has ever told me this before. Thought it was interesting though. Guest guest
I bought more vitamins today and I could only find a combo of 500 Calcium and 400 Magnesium. I know it's supposed to be 300 of each right? Or 400 of each right? But will it be okay to take 500 of Calcium and 400 of Magnesium? Thanks Mia
Guest guest
> > Hi, > I have been taking magnesium glycinate for a long time. What is the difference between glycinate and citrate? +++Hi Donna. Magnesium citrate contains acid, which is indicated by the citrate, while magnesium glycinate doesn't. All minerals require acid in order to be absorbed and utilized, so that's why I recommend the citrate forms. > Also, the calcium I am taking has vitamin D in it. Is it best to get my D from cod liver oil or can I continue taking it in the calcium and just adding fish oil and shart liver oil for the A? +++It is best to buy supplements separately, so you can regulate the amount of each kind to take. Yes, it is better to get vitamin D from cod liver oil, along with the other nutrients it contains. Cod liver oil contains omega 3 (EPA and DPA), vitamin A and vitamin D. I don't believe you'd get enough vitamin D if it is only in your calcium supplement. See this article for the amounts of omega 3, vitamins A & D you need to take: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cod2.php I recommend Garden of Life Cod Liver Oil, which is on this list at iHerb: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php The best, Bee
