> Buy chance does anyone have a recipe for Nachos ( craving in the worse

way)

Why not get some of the low-fat or fat free taco chips and some ff cheese

and melt it and pour. I'm not a nacho kind of person and, to be honest, have

never seen an " order " of nachos from a restaurant, so I'm just imagining

this is all it is, right?

> and or I thought that had a freebie salsa.......

I don't see it on any web site, myself, but I just checked my Exchanges book

from the bookstore, and it says up to 1/4 cup of *any* salsa is a free

exchange. Enjoy!

Nope not fancy (make it every week) I have just put salsa/tabasco on everything I eat since I was 3. It would kill me to give it up

Like my hubby and ketchup.

One of the beautiful things about the FoodMover program, and Deal A Meal

before it, was that you *can* eat all your favorite foods, as long as you

plan for them and eat them in moderation.

The tomatoes, onions, jalapeño pepper and cilantro have calories -- not many but some. Everything except the peppers are appropriate for the treatment phase.

Most people don't put a whole pepper in it plus these peppers do not have a lot of calories, only 4 each so I don't think it really hurts for that 1 gram of carb -- it is half sugar and half fiber.

Just remember that you have to include it as part of your veggies for the day on your salad depending on how much you use. I've been known to do that in the past and I think it makes a good salad dressing.

Does anyone know if it is okay to use homemade salsa as a saladdressing. Very little if any calories, no sugar, just veggies andspices. I've been using it and it isn't slowing down my weight loss.

Thanks for the reply....I'll check the calories but I only use about 2

tablespoons on my

salad so it probably isn't much.

I've been told by my Dr. that you shouldn't use it, because it mixes

veggies and you're not supposed to do that. With that said, I know

of other people that use it and they still lose weight. But for me,

I want to lose every single pound possible, so I follow it to a T.

My phlosophy is "if you use and you lose. that's just one more food you can add to your diet". Good Luck!

I just dice some of the tomatoes by hand and add to the Vitamix mixture of salsa when done. I like my salsa chunky too.

I had a bit better results this time but I am still not that good with keeping the tomatoes chunky. I followed Lea Ann's recipe and mostly good but I still need advice on what speed to do the tomatoes so I don't end up with mush.

There are some very interesting videos on the Vitamix Commercial site of a professional chef making (among other things) salsa with the Vitamix XL--their newest (and not-as-fast-as-the-5000-series) commercial model: http://www.vitamix.com/xl/index.html . It's really a pleasure to watch a pro in action (he apparently doesn't like his end result to be too chunky). :)

Re: Salsa

If trying to do it all in the VM I'd chop the tomato into as small chunks as you were willing to spend the time on, then process only at variable speed one until it was all chopped to the consistency you like.

I sometimes hand chop some of the tomatoes - I do after all already have the cutting board and knife out.
