I think bentonite will pull a lot out, including minerals. I don't know what iodine is considered as?

In studies on cows, bentonite doesn't cause problems

with digestion. Rather the reverse: cows fed bentonite

gain weight faster, indicating they are getting MORE

goodness from their feed rather than less. It's true

bentonite tends to adhere to many different kinds

of molecules, but it seems to act as more of a catalyst

and in the long run, the things it adheres to tend to

be the more toxic molecules.

But I googled on it and came up with a really

interesting article on aflatoxins (toxins from moldy

food), thyroid hormones, and bentonite. Turns out

aflatoxins interfere with thyroid hormones!

Bentonite is known to prevent aflatoxin damage

(which is one reason it is fed to cows. The the

authors also theorize the bentonite might interfere

with iodine absorption:

http://www.piwet.pulawy.pl/doc/biuletyn_49-1/18_eraslan.pdf

This may indirectly hinder the synthesis of T3 and

T4 in the thyroid gland. The reason for these declines in

the hormone levels in the groups which received

adsorbent material alone could be the irreversible

binding of iodine by bentonite, subsequently, its

disrupted absorption from the digestive tract. In fact,

sodium bentonite is a compound that possesses high

binding capacity (5).

....

Yet, the decrease did not occur rapidly in the groups

which received sodium bentonite only (groups 2 and 3)

and in the groups which received sodium bentonite as a

combination with AF. The absence of statistically

significant difference among three groups proved that

this effect is not the primary mechanism for the decrease

in the hormone levels.

====================

My own take is that for most people, bentonite causes

gut healing which will result in better food absorption,

and many foods we eat DO have toxins that the bentonite

will render less harmful. But if there is a specific medication

you are concerned about, just don't take that medication

with the meal. Many foods will disrupt medications, esp.

foods with calcium, which has some of the same effects

as bentonite. Calcium is positively charged, as is bentonite.

I tend to take both with meals, and this has worked very

well for my bones (they are strong!) and digestion (I'm

getting my old iron-clad stomach back). But both of them

interfere with some drugs.

+++Hi lar. No, bentonite clay is not recommended, for very good reasons - see

this: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/mn3.php

The main things on this program that help flush out toxins is the high " good "

fats, including vitamins A, D & E and omega 3, and niacin (B3) - of course all

of the nutrients on the diet plus all of the supplements work together.

Secondly you can do other things that help you detoxify such as dry skin

brushing (or another mild exercise), coffee enemas, Epsom salt baths,

electrolyte drink, etc.

The best, Bee

an effective means of detox , used 1 tsp in 2 c water, let it set until it is

incorporated into the water....it's powdery and takes awhile to mix right with

the water. The cloudy water can be sipped at all day, keep filling the glass to

use up what settles at the bottom, or it can be stirred and consumed all at one

time...but if you do that continue to drink sufficient water through out the

day. It not only works to detox, but also contributes trace minerals.
