Guest guest
> > > Hi ya! > seems to not want me on ...hee hee! ;-) Posting from Hi Nikki, Welcome to CI Hear. I'm sorry that we are experiencing problems again. I knew the difficulties were bound to reoccur. They always do. I have no response back from yet but that really doesn't surprise me. I'm glad you know how to read from the web and hope you keep doing that until we have you showing on the group and able to read and post normally. You sure have an interesting story to tell and I'm going to look forward to reading more from you. It took courage to try the implant again but you did and it sounds as if it's paying off for you so it was worth it. I congratulate you on that. As far as copying snipits from someone's e mail to respond, I don't have a problem with that at all. Most people don't like to see a full repeat and especially a full copy over of a digest but I think it helps to send a portion of the person's message that you are responding to as I think it makes things clear for everyone. Guest guest
Hello , The best type of vitamin C to take is the buffered variety so that it minimizes stomach problems (Ester C). Unfortunately, it is a lot more expensive. I noticed that I also got gas when I took too much vitamin C. To give the stomach a healthy coating of mucus, take lots of NATURAL vitamin A, such as is found in cod liver/cod liver oil. To minimize diarrhea, try psyllium husks and either gouda or edam cheese. The amino acid Taurine is also helpful for this problem. > > Hello everyone! I will try to keep this brief. I am a 35 year old > female that has been through quite a bit since Jne 2007. Guest guest
I agree on the gluten. Many, many thyroid people have issues with gluten. I am GF and will be taking my family GF in a few weeks after we get my son (9 yrs and on Armour) tested for Celiac. My husband has Hashi's and his niece was just dx'd with it as well. Guest guest
Yep we have lots of issues. I am testing my son and will go from there. He is the immediate issue. I had thyroid cancer so it was a no brainer for me. I feel horrible on it. My son is having concentration and hyper like issues. Hopefully this is the answer. I don't want to deal with the dairy because we have a cow share and that gets messy. Guest guest
Hi Bee and everyone! This is just a quick introduction for this board. I am truely grateful for being led to this website and am trying to absorb all of the wisdom and guidelines. It's fabulous, and I can't thank Bee enough for helping me start the process of wellness. My story (in short) I have been misdiagnosed for over 11 years and not ONE doctor mentioned the possiblity of candida overgrowth. My symptoms include: (and were getting progressively worse over the years) IBS-C with constant bloat, chronic sinusitis, mild rosacea in my eyes which causes dry eye, unexplained swelling on one side of my upper neck which affects my tongue as well, chronic fatigue, tooth sensitivity and gum problems, anxiety, depression, cold areas on my body, toe nail fungus, eczema, extremely itchy skin arund my ankles...... sadly my list is long. I basically was told that I had allergies and IBS and that I would just have to live with it. They handed me some allergy meds, antibiotics, and Donatol. I knew this was not right, but didn't know what else to do. It was not until I had official allergy testing last year, that I realized my problem was not allergies at all. The tests said NO allergies and also said my immune system was low. (interesting huh??) In search for answers I found a women's clinic up in Maine who delt with symptoms such as mine. They felt from the beginning I had a yeast overgrowth and had me take additional stool tests. The tests DID confirm the possibility, so I went on their candida diet plan with probiotics and Uva Ursi. (Finally I was getting answers and NOT feeling like a hypochondriac for all of my symptoms I KNEW somehow were all related.(even though my doctors never put them all together and made me feel like a hypochondriac!). However, after MUCH reading on the internet and books that I purchased on the subject, I realized that the diet the clinic gave me was not strict enough. So I additionally cut out all grain, and legumes and fruit. But as Bee has said, too much in " cuts " all at once can cause bad die off reaction, which is what I have had!!!! I felt like I was dying, my whole body ached and every symptom I had was on " fire " . Then I found Bee's website (though and on-line board). I'm have been reading and reading all the wonderful articles and about diet and supplements and am confident I have NOW found the right healing path for my body. I have been easing into Bee's curing candida plan and am hopeful that I will start to feel better soon. I am crying as I write this with tears of joy. For the first time in so many years, I can see light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Thank you, thank you Bee! Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Welcome to the forum.... This has to be really quick because I'm off to bed, but uncurable depression and fibromyalgia/CFS/ME all linked to lack of T3. Best thing you could do would be get a test fro free t3 and free t4.... Either the doctor or you can get them done privately by going direct to the laboratory yourself.... We commonly use Genova Diagnostics but there are other labs too. Details in the files section. thyroid treatment/files/. Have a look at www.drlowe.com for links between cfs etc and T3. The numbness and pins and needles possibly links to low B12, which needs to be 7 or 800 to be optimal. The breaking into a sweat has happened to me and several others but I can't remember why.... I've not got it any more... may be adrenal related.... Are you taking Selenium to help with conversion of T4 to t3? Essential really. How about Vitamin C? There's a ton of stuff for you to look at in the files, it's all relevant and you're not imagining that the way you are feeling is linked to badly treated thyroid..... T4 only suits 87% people, the other 13% have to battle for correct treatment, and we end up on forums. Sorry this is rushed... x > > Hello all. Forgive me because I suspect that this message may be a little longer than you would like as I am not really sure what is relevant and what isn't. > >
Guest guest
Hello Sharon and welcome to our forum where I hope you get the help and support you so obviously need. About 6 years ago I was diagnosed with CFS/ME and lost my job because of it 5 years ago. I have been unable to work since. Doctors give this 'dustbin' diagnosis when your thyroid function tests are within the 'normal' reference range, you are taking thyroid hormone replacement yet you still complain of symptoms, they have not been taught how to deal with symptoms if you are still complaining so give you a diagnosis of CFS/ME/FM and told to go away and try to prescribe you antidepressants. I have suffered with depression all of my adult life and have been on too many types of antidepressants than I care to remember but am currently using venlafaxine. It keeps me stable-ish but below par. The specialist has referred to my depression as being drug resistant. If your specialist blames your depression on being drug resistant, does he mean antidepressants or thyroid hormone replacement? I have a whole host of symptoms; brain fog, exhaustion, tight and aching muscles, severe headaches for which I can find no trigger, pins and needles/numbness in my fingers when I grip things (carpel tunnel syndrome has been ruled out). My 'thermostat' seems shot; coming in from outdoors may result in me feeling far too hot when other people seem fine. Just doing the washing up can make me sweat so badly that my hair gets wet. This sounds as if the cause of your symptoms of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto's disease. This means you have antibodies to your thyroid that sometimes attack the thyroid and sometimes do not, so you are up and down, hyper/hypothyroidism at different times. Walking at any kind of pace gives me severe cramp pains on the outside of my ankles. I have been told this is because my calf muscles have shortened, though been given no explanation as to why. I tried the stretching exercises prescribed for quite some time but found that the next day I was back to square one. I believe that some of these symptoms could be due to untreated hypothyroidism, but the sweating thing surely isn't. That may be a side effect of the venlafaxine though. What do you think? Quite probably this is caused because the thyroxine you are taking is not the thyroid hormone you should be taking. Thyroxine (levothyroxine) is a mainly INACTIVE thyroid hormone that MUST convert into the ACTIVE form of thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3) - the synthetic version in the UK is called Liothyronine, and Cytomel elsewhere. It is T3 that every cell in your body and brain needs to make them function. Unfortunately, the NHS fail to recognise that there is a large minority of sufferers (actually, approximately over quarter a million in the UK alone) who are unable to convert for many and varied reasons. I saw my GP last week for new painkillers for the headaches and tested the water by saying I may be looking into treating myself with NDT. She seemed willing to at least monitor me. There is also the possibility that my psychiatrist may be persuaded to consider T3 treatment. But I am so confused as to what to do next. Ideally I would like to see a recommended doctor who will look after me properly as my ability to concentrate and assimilate information is really not what it once was. Many psychiatrists treat their 'depressed' patients with the active thyroid hormone T3 because they recognise the necessity for this but it appears this news has yet to reach the ears of our mainstream NHS endocrinologists and GP's who are doing their patients a great disservice. What I would do Sharon in your case is to write a letter to your GP, sending a copy to the Head of Practice and keeping a copy yourself in case you need to take this matter further. First, make it absolutely clear to your GP that you are no longer willing to take a back seat and leave your health, which is gradually getting worse, in the hands of the NHS or to be given a dustbin diagnosis of ME/CFS/FM as you know that all avenues have not been trodden. List every single one of your symptoms and signs. Check yours against those in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' in the Menu, and then in the drop down menu, click on 'Symptoms and Signs'. Next, take your temperature for 4 or 5 mornings before you get out of bed and list these too. It is likely these will be very low in the range and is a sign that your metabolism isn't functioning as it should. No.1 reason for having a low metabolism is hyperthermia, No. 2 reason is untreated or under treated hypothyroidism. Next, list all the members of your family who have a thyroid or autoimmune disease - this is important. Next, list all the blood tests you need to be done. These are a full thyroid function test which must include TSH, free T4, free T3 and tests to see whether or not you have thyroid antibodies. These are TPA and TgAb. The latter is especially important if you have family members with thyroid or autoimmune problems. Ask also to have the following tested to see whether any levels of these minerals/vitamins are low in the reference range: ferritin, vitamin B12,m vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Mention here that you would like copies of all these test results to be sent to you together with the reference range. When you get them, post them here and we can try to help with their interpretation. Tell the GP here also that you are SPECIFICALLY asking for these tests to be done because it is a well known fact that should any of these be low in the range, no amount of thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at cellular level. Next, ask for a referral to an endocrinologist of your choice. You do not have to see the one your GP refers you to as it is very likely your local one's will not have the required speciality in thyroid disease, but in diabetes only. We have learned there are very few NHS endocrinologists who are very knowledgeable about thyroid disease. However, I have collected a list of doctors recommended by our members here who will treat using either the synthetic form or natural form of T3 for those patients who do not do well on T4 only. I will send this list to you privately. Under Patient's Choices, you can be referred outside of your area but not to the specialist you want to see, so what you do is to first get the referral to the hospital your chosen specialist works at and once you hear from that hospital, you then ask for an appointment when Dr so and so has his clinic and tell them you want to see nobody else, and that you are prepared to wait to get an appointment with him. You then ask for this doctors name to be placed into your medical notes to show that you will not be seen by anybody else, ONLY him. This is what I did years ago - and it works great. Last, don't forget to send a copy of your letter of requests to the Head of Practice and ask for this same letter to be placed into your medical notes and GOOD LUCK. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Please see attached document (if you can't see it because you get a Daily Digest or read directly from the forum web site, let me know and I will send a copy to your private address). This is a document giving many possible reasons why your thyroid hormone replacement might not be working and what you should do about it. Luv - Sheila I would so appreciate your help.
