Lab Testing

As a chemist I have worked in QA/QC and research and development labs

most of my life, and I will confirm completely what Mrs. Smitch is

saying. I too keep a running log of batches, dates made, if I

strayed from my original formula, testing, results and each entry

gets a lot number. A lot number is placed on every product I sell

that references back to my log book. I also keep a sample big enough

for lab testing with extra incase of lab error. I keep these logs

both to protect myself and to better enable myself to reference back

and see what I may have done differently. I use my logs as a tool

for continuous improvement and not to mention mistakes are sometimes a

God send. You can laugh, but all of my mistakes have taken me to a

better formula or idea.

QA/QC is worth the time it takes, and it does take time.

Do you keep samples of all your input products also,

or just your output (final) product? Also, does

anyone know if the QA?QC that toiletry companies do is

required by the FDA, or some other agency, or is it

done to protect themselves, make a better product,

etc.

If anyone knows where these regs. are, I would

appreciate a note. Thanks, Bev

Yippee! Good for you. I understand some lab tests can be very expensive and

others not so much, but do not know this first hand. I know some people on

these lists have their finished products tested after a while to see if they

are developing cooties. I think this type is not as expensive as having your

raw materials tested for authenticity and purity. I still make products just

for personal use or as gifts for family and friends so am not experienced

with the testing aspect. One thought is to purchase your raw materials

directly from a manufacturer who provides the certificates of analysis or

from a distributor who tests the materials and can provide you with lot

numbers and certificates of analysis on what you purchase. I believe Butch

Owen at butchbsi@... is one such supplier. One of many I

sincerely hope. Perhaps people on the list know of others. That might be a

much less expensive way to go. Will you let us all know what you learn?

Thank you. :-)

The National Osteoporosis Foundation is recommending 1200-1500mg Ca Citrate and 2000IU Vit D3 for RYGB pts. We advise 30mg elemental Fe fumarate, gluconate, or ferronyl carbonyl daily. in addtn to MV. For B12 we advise 500 mcg twice weekly or 1000mcg weekly sublingually (all these doses are for prevention of deficiency not treatment).

Is everyone following the recommendations for 1200-200 mg calcium citrate with vitamin D? I have been recommending a total of 1200, by supplement and diet, but am wondering if I should be recommending more. Also, is the 40-65 mg iron in addition to the iron in the MVI? We typically have pts take sublingual b12, 500-1000 mcg daily. Bee:

Schmidt here. I just wanted to update you that I visited a doctor by the

name of Dr. Wand at Midwest Wellness Center here in Minneapolis, MN. He

is a holistic doctor and I am very excited to be working with him. I had blood

testing and urine testing done last Thursday and also 3 days worth of stool

sample that I'm in the middle of at home, (my least favorite.) The tests show

levels of vitamin and minerals in your body and what needs to be leveled out,

(i.e. magnesium vitamin D, etc.) Very intriguing. Also, he has started me on

HCl and also 2 tsp. Magnesium Phosphate daily.

www.midwestwellness.com

I'm a little frustrated today as I took the 10 oz. bottle of Magnesium Ciltrate

last night as a laxative and I literally had barely results if any. I've got a

call into my doctor due to my concern to see if this is serious but it seems to

be right on as I could lose/gain 15 lbs. in 3 days due ton indigestion and fluid

retention. Does this seem normal or do you feel I should be concerned?

Once my lab results come back I head to Lacrosse, WI to Allergy Associates. Are

you familiar with this practice? They do conclusive Candida testing and the

doctor I'm seeing was a good friend and cohort to Dr. Crook who authored, " The

Yeast Connection. "

I find that all of this is expensive, however, necessary to restore me to

optimal health along with your recommendations.

+++Hi . Weldome to our group. It isn't advisable to rely on any tests to

take supplements, since your body re-balances all of its nutrients, only taking

those I recommend along with my diet.

+++Taking more of one supplement in an effort to increase its level doesn't

work. For example, if you take more Vitamin D than necessary, it means you must

take more calcium, and more calcium requires more magnesium, and so on and so

on.

+++It appears your good doctor doesn't know that the body re-balances all

nutrients naturally as it heals, and he does not know what constitutes " proper

nutrition " so he prescribes Magnesium without calcium, and will probably

recommend other similar nutrients that are either not required on my program, or

they are imbalanced.

+++It may take more than magnesium to help your consipation since so many

factors are involved, including your diet and other supplements, and whether you

are intaking enough " good " fats like I recommend.

Yeast Connection. "

+++No I'm not familiar with it. Just so you know, there are no tests that can

be conclusive for candida - see this article:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro3.php

+++I know personally that Dr. Crook's recommendations are not right for candida,

which put me through a lot of needless suffering.

>

> I find that all of this is expensive, however, necessary to restore me to

optimal health along with your recommendations.

+++All you need is my program, since seeing others, even though they have good

intentions, may just confuse you. Too many treatments can overwhelm your body

and interfere with natural healing processes too. Candida is only cured by

building up the immune system, mainly with " proper nutrients " which is what my

program does.

+++I suggest you read 2 articles: How to Successfully Overcome Candida, and

Curing Candida, How to Get Started:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/candida/index.php

+++For encouragement and the miracles of this program see these many Success

Stories by members of this group:

The best in health, Bee
