Guest guest
Debbie - I am sending you my 'good' doctors list and you will see on that list is one Consultant in General Medicine who has been highly recommended to me for treating thyroid disease. You might want to ask your GP to refer you to him and see how you get on. I have sent you this list privately. Luv - Sheila Oh that's awful & suffer we all have, but your right Nooo more c**p are we going to take, like you & so many here we have wasted enough of our time. Thank you for sharing how things have been for you, I'm also going to make an appointment to see this Dr, I wished he had a clinic here in Belfast, but it won't take much to travel to him & from the sounds of things it will be one of the best journeys I will take, as it will be for you. Guest guest
Debbie, the NHS will only test you for adrenal problems if your doctors believe you have either 's disease (abnormally low cortisol output or Cushing's Syndrome (abnormally high cortisol output). They do not check the shades of grey in-between the two. They usually do this test about 9.00 a.m. and they take a blood sample - and then they give you an injection of Synacthen, and after half an hour, they take another blood sample, and again, after another half hour, a last blood sample. This injection actually boosts your adrenal function, so if you have low adrenal reserve, your poor adrenals think all their Christmas's have come at once - because they feel great. Your result will come back as normal and you will be told you do not have an adrenal problem. The best test to get is the private one that you can get from Genova Diagnostics www.gdx.uk.net . This is the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile which will show the levels of your cortisol and DHEA output at four specific times during the day. These are at 8.00a.m. - 12.00 Noon - 4.00p.m and again at midnight. The test costs about £70 but if you contact , she can get this cheaper for you. Meanwhile, go to our FILES which you can access from the Home Page of this Forum thyroid treatment and scroll down until you see 'Adrenal Questionnaire' and answer as many of those questions as you can and see how you score. Then go to www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' in the Menu, and then click on 'Associated Conditions' and on the page that opens, click on 'Adrenals' and read Dr Peatfield's paper on the adrenal/thyroid connection and this should help explain everything to you. Luv - Sheila You say it sounds like I may have adrenal problems, what makes you think that, just that obviously I wouldn't have a clue what to look for. My last test was a few months ago, it could have been nearly 6 months ago, I have them taken once a year. What I'll do is ask for the results of the last tests & ask for another. _,_._,___

Guest guest
The more i read on this site the more confused i get, so is it antifungals or the supplements that cure it, or is it the whole package!!!! Anne
Guest guest
Hi Anne, It is really the whole package. The diet is the most important factor in the whole thing. The supplements are part of the diet, which builds up your immune system. Once your immune system is stronger, the antifungals assist in getting rid of the candida but the diet is the key.
