Is bloody nose a symptom of liver disease? I was tentatively dx with PBC and my

AMA is negative. LFTs are high. I have been on pred for a long time because of

another autoimmune disease. My liver biopsy came back inconclusive. Hep said

that it could be because of the prednisone. He also said that I am in an early

stage. How can he tell if the prednisone may have masked the reading?

Today I woke up and had a horrible bloody nose. I soaked a washcloth in just a

couple minutes. There was a huge blood clot in there. About 2 hours after I

woke up, the same thing happened again. Is this common? I am confused.

>Zanna,

I don't know if a bloody nose is common but I can tell you that it

is because of a bloody now that I was diagnosed. I had a 2 and a half

hour bloody nose. When you get one like that, they said to blow your

nose until you get the blood clot out. I have a bottle of

Affrin and a nose pincher thing because I do continue to have bloody

noses. Nothing as bad as that first one but they are here. Sometimes

in the middle of the night. My PBC is stage 2/3.

Good Luck,

Sandy

Zanna I am behind so if someone answered your question I am sorry.

Are you taking any meds for high cholesterol? My husband was on Lipitor and had awful nose bleeds from it.We know of others who have had the same problem.

Hi Doris,

It sounds to me like he might be 'retracing' previous episodes of

bloody noses since you said he has had them off and on in the past.

Something you could try is to put the end of an unlit match under his

top lip. The sulphur in the match can sometimes help the blood to

clot. You could also lay an ice pack across his nose. The cold will

help to constrict the blood vessels.

Let us know if that works.

>

<snip>

Sometimes he will even have thick clots 3 inches long and he has such

a little nose. It scares him and they last over 30 minutes

sometimes. Today was 35 minutes.

> Does he need Vit. K? Why won't it clot?

+++Hi Doris. I agree with that your son is " retracing "

previous bloody nose episodes. Her suggestions are good, and also

ensure he isn't taking too much cod liver oil for his size, which

thins the blood - but he should have enough to support health at the

same time.

+++Since he's had bloody noses in the past he shouldn't be given

anything to increase clotting, like vitamin K, since his blood may be

clotting okay yet he will still " retrace " previous episodes.

Doris,

This bloody nose sounds like my daughter. She had a bloody nose every morning.

We discovered that there was an inordinate amount of mold in her room. (Leaky

window, going in between the walls, behind wallpaper.) Once that was discovered

and repaired the bloody noses stopped. Check for mold in his room and your

house, especially the bathroom. Mold spores float in the air. Try putting a

chunk of coconut oil into his nostrils every nite. Lie down with head back.

Some leakage will occur, but just rub it into the face, as it is only coconut

oil. Your son probably has a large amount of yeast in his nasil passages, as

well as his whole body, but if you still have mold in your house, he will have

trouble recovering.

Hello

My daughter has had a bloody nose for the last three days. We are able to stop

it right away, but it comes and goes. She's been completely on the diet since

Jan. About two weeks ago we increased her coconut oil to three tablespoons from

2 1/2. I searched on the website but could not find anything?   Thanks so much.

+++Hi Ann. Has she ever had a bloody nose in the past, either due to an injury

or other causes? If so, she is getting them again because of " retracing " that

the body does during the healing process - see Hering's Law of Cure on my

website.

OR, is she digging in her nose and scratching it?

+++Hi Ann. She is causing the bleeding by picking at her nose, and since she

had nose bleeds in the past her body may also be " retracing " them as I explained

before.
