Guest guest
Hi,
I was diagonised back in April. since than I have been taking synthroid. I started out at 344 lbs and was down to 339 in October. In Sept-through Dec. I was exercising at least 2-4 times a week at school and trying to slowly change my diet. I've been at home for a month now and haven't been working out so I've probably gone back up in weight and I'm not feeling as good.

For me, getting the hormones has helped me to feel better a bit and the exercise has helped a lot. There is no way to get around the exercise part. I do both cardio to burn fat and weight lifting to build muscle and increase my metabolism. It has not helped to shed the weight like I wanted it too.

Hopefully getting your levels correct should help you to become pregnant.
I don't really think being hypo is that big a deal except that it makes it hard to lose weight. It's only a big deal if you go way too long being very hypo but as long as we take the meds, we should be ok.

Janine
Guest guest
Hi Kari!

I was diagnosed in June last year. Both my TSH which then was 76, and my medical-journal indicates that I've been hypothyroid for years without knowing. 10 years ago I weighed 70 kg (154 pounds). My weight has been increasing slowly over the years, and last summer when I was diagnosed it showed 85 kg (187 pounds) ...which I thought was natural with getting older. Though, since I started taking thyroxine, I've lost 7 kg (15,4 pounds). I have not been on a diet, and because I've not been feeling a 100%, I've not been as active as before ...so don't give up, I think there is hope.

Conserning your husbond, I had the same problem with both my fiance and my collegues (nurses!) ...it was horrible. I started educating them, letting them read the articles on the subject that I'd read myself, and I think they understand a bit better now.

About pregnancy ...my " clock is ticking " , but I have read that when you're hypothyroid it's hard to concieve and it's also likely to end in a miss-carriage, so I have decided to have my thyroid stabilized before I even try.

Good luck!

PS! Do you have norwegian ancestors? Kari is a very commond name here in Norway.

smiling_bee
Guest guest
Smiling Bee, I read the same thing about pregnancy....I too want a baby pretty badly although I've got at least a year to two to begin trying.
Anyway from what I understand, if you get the TSH between 1-2 than you shouldn't have any problems getting pregnant and keeping it. They just have to test you a lot when pg to make sure that you remain stable.

Janine
Guest guest
Hi Kari. I'm so sorry to read about your attempts to get pregnant. Maybe I can offer some hope. I developed hypothyroidism when I was pregnant with my daughter. It wasn't diagnosed until she was five months old though. After a bad experience with one doctor who wouldn't listen to me and how I was feeling, I went to an endocrinologist who has been great. I have to admit it took a while before she got the right dose down, but I " m now on .75 mg. of Levoxyl and I feel great. No more depression, crying, sleeping all day and night and STILL feeling tired, etc. I also managed to get pregnant while on Levoxyl and I have a beautiful baby boy who is actually 8 months today. So while it can be difficult to conceive, it's not impossible. Get all the info you can about this disease via books, your doctor, on-line, and be educated and knowledgable. You need to have a good rapport with your doctor so he/she knows how you feel, and I'm sure you'll do just fine. Hang in there!

Debbie

Guest guest
I agree with you karyartist...the folks I have written back and forth with have been a Godsend. They have helped me so much in getting ready for the surgery as well as living life with a LapBand. While everyone has been great, truly, I especially want to thank Penny M. for her explanations and support. Without all of you I would be pretty nervous for my big day next Wednesday, but I am not at all now! God bless you all. -jim > > My surgery is scheduled Oct 16 2007 and I can hardly wait. Guest guest
Hello, I accidentally fell into what I think might be candida die-off... I know of the condition and my doc and I had briefly discussed it, but we haven't set out to remove candida. My doctor had suggested I try an elimination diet to see if I'm sensitive to gluten, and for the last 3 weeks I've been off wheat, oats, barley, and corn. A week ago I also eliminated dairy. She had me start a high-strength probiotic. A friend recommended a new non-dairy kefir, so I added that in, too. And for the last week or so I've been feeling horrible. Dizzy, can't breathe, tight chest, exhausted, and my old intestinal problems (hiatal hernia & splenic flexure) have been acting up. I'm suspecting that this is die-off? Last night, though, I wasn't so sure, and ended up in the emergency room. After several tests, my heart is fine and I don't have pneumonia or a blood clot. But that's how awful I felt, that I actually called 911. So, again, am thinking these are die-off symptoms. It's odd, though, because I'm not following Bee's diet at all. Am still eating some sugar, etc. Was very thankful to find Bee's group and website, though. But my initial question is this: you say recovery takes one month for every year of illness. By recovery, do you mean die-off symptoms like this? And since I'm not even doing this program, what should I start doing, and maybe, what should I stop doing, until I no longer feel like I'm dying? Guest guest
Hi there! Welcome to Bee's group! I'm glad you found us! Is your name ? What you describe certainly sounds like die-off to me, especially since you said the doctors couldn't find anything 'wrong' with you. I think we don't realize just how powerful food can be, so it's easy to dismiss things like this as coincidence, but I really think that the changes you've made have started your body to heal. I would be good if you could read some articles from Bee's website so you understand her program so you can incorporate it into your lifestyle. Her program is very effective and is the best one I've seen for healing the body naturally. Here are the articles you should start with: How to Successfully Overcome Candida http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php Curing Candida, How to Get Started http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro1.php To start off with, you should probably back off on the high potency probiotics. They can cause a lot of die-off to occur. Just take things easy with the diet and try to increase your fat intake as you slowly eliminate the no-no foods. Going too fast will only cause a lot of unnecessary die-off/healing reactions to occur and you don't want that. So read and absorb as much as you can from Bee's website and get yourself on her program. For some motivation and inspiration, here are some Success Stories. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/index.php To answer your question, I believe Bee means that it takes 1 month for every year to heal the candida overgrowth. It doesn't mean that you have to suffer severe die-off like you've been experiencing now for the entire time. Bee recommends that we start slowly so that the body gets used to the changes without overwhelming it. A little die-off is necessary, but as you progress on her program, you start to get days when you don't have any die-off at all. Hope that helps! > > Hello, > <snip> > > But my initial question is this: you say recovery takes one month for every year of illness. By recovery, do you mean die-off symptoms like this?
