Guest guest
Hi, Plateaus.. the curse of the weight loss journey happens.. I'm afraid! You are doing wonderfully! Hang in there and put the scale away for awhile and enjoy your journey!! HUGS aW I have a few questions Hey group, I have not written anything since my surgery on June 4th 2002. I have lost 45 pounds so far but I am kind of stuck. I have not lost any weight in over two weeks and I started eating less and drinking diet soda or unsweetened drinks and I still have not lost anymore weight. I am a little worried. Also I can not have any milk products, bread or chicken since the surgery. Has that happen to anyone else? and if it has will I ever be able to again? I love milk and it gives me horrible dumping! Well I really hope to hear from someone about this stuff. Thank you, Christie del Valle _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
You are NOT supposed to be having sodas of any kind - the carbonation is very bad for you. I wouldn't worry about the two week plateau - most of us have had them at some point. As for the milk, etc. --- it is hard to say. Some people have become lactose intolerant. You might try some of the lactose free milks. in GA > I have a few questions > > > > > Hey group, I have not written anything since my surgery on > June 4th 2002. > I have lost 45 pounds so far but I am kind of stuck. Guest guest
Hi Christie: I was lactose intolerant after surgery for nearly two years. I no longer am. I can't explain why but I tried milk again and it's fine. I'm now back to my milk and cereal breakfast. Guest guest
Hi Christie, I'm one of your littermates and had surgery the same day you did. I think you are doing just great with 45 pounds lost. I've lost 50 (and I have more to lose than you do, so it probably comes off just a little bit faster!). I have read many, many posts and many people reach plateaus at different times and then start losing again. You just have to have patience and not get down about the short-term slowdown. My recommendation is instead of focusing on what you're eating, focus on increasing your activity levels. I have had a couple of times where the weight loss slowed down and have just focused on starting my exercise program. It is much easier to do that now that I've lost some initial weight. Also, my personal recommendation, but stay off the sodas (diet or not). The carbonation will actually cause your stomach to enlarge and is just empty calories. You are better off staying with the gatorade and fruit drinks - even though there are more calories they provide nutritional value. I also have problems with bread and haven't even tried milk yet since I know so many people have problems with it. I know that there were some foods I couldn't handle earlier but have tried them again & didn't have the same problems. Bottom line, it is way too soon to worry about what you are eating. Just relax, eat smart (nutritious but not calorie or fat focused) and increase your activity. Good luck to you, it's great to hear how well you are doing! Guest guest
Christie, MY surgery was may 1st. i was able to eat bread at first but not as much now. For one reason i don't like the way it feels in my new tummy and so i don't mind giving it up. Before surg. i craved bread always. Plus i realized i can eat more other food if i leave off the bread. I could not eat chicken at first but now no problem most of the time. Beef sometimes bothers me too but not always. For some reason meatloaf goes down pretty good. I make it quite often now. I crave fruits and veggies now . so weird for me. My sister can't believe how i love it now. I had read that from someone else before i had surg. too. Mostly i eat every and anything i want. Thank goodness. Even milk i don't drink much in a glass per say but in my cereal and then i drink it out of the bowl when the cereal is gone. Chocolate is smooth and feels good to me. I could not eat hardly anything for about 1 1/2 months so i've come a long way baby. ha !!!! I hope some of this helps. cya, Bonnie Trott 57 lbs. and 38 1/4 inches total . Unbelievable. Wish i could go out and buy a new wordrobe.lol Pgarcia@... wrote:Hi Christie, I'm one of your littermates and had surgery the same day you did. I think you are doing just great with 45 pounds lost. Guest guest
dera christie, i had surgury on 6/07/02 and i lost 60 pds and for two weeks i didn't lose any weight and then i dropped 4 pds. be patient it will come off if you had 4 feet of intestion bypassed you will lose 120 pds. be patient you don't want to lose too fast anyway. also try to start working out you will tone muscle and also lose weight. sincerely, peter r tosto chicago,il 308/
Guest guest
To make a statement like " IF YOU HAD FOUR FEET OF INTESTINE BYPASSED YOU WILL LOSE 120 POUNDS " is absolutely untrue...... no one (not even the man upstairs) knows whether or not you will lose 50, 75, 100, 120 or maybe even less.......this is NOT an exact science! I firmly believe that diet and exercise (I know, something most of us were never good at before) is necessary to ensure that the amount of weight we want to lose will come off as well as stay off. I am a most vocal advocate of Weight Watchers in conjunction with the surgery. I still attend weekly WW meetings and have since the day of my surgery (and before). Unfortunately for me I had 6 FEET of intestine bypassed and have not lost quite 120 pounds --- I am still struggling to get rid of the last 20 or so. Remember that the " experts " say that WLS in general will in MOST cases allow you to lose " 75 to 80% of your EXCESS body weight " with no guarantees..... in GA > Re: I have a few questions > > > dera christie, > i had surgury on 6/07/02 and i lost 60 pds and for two weeks > i didn't lose > any weight and then i dropped 4 pds. be patient it will come > off if you had 4 > feet of intestion bypassed you will lose 120 pds. be patient > you don't want > to lose too fast anyway. > also try to start working out you will tone muscle and also > lose weight. sincerely, peter r tosto chicago,il 308/248 > > >

Guest guest
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to grow my own vegetables in the summer and can them and eat them throughout the winter until my next crop. Would I loose to many nutrients in the canning process? Im sick of eating these GM and pesticide ridden veggies! And for what ever reason I can only get organic tomatoes. Everything else around here is GM. The health food store has a limited amount of produce, the last time I was there their produce was rotting on the shelf and they were still trying to sell it, and Ive checked all other local health food stores with no luck. I was also wondering if pecan are alright for us candida dieters. Im not sure if there considered a nut. Is it true that it took Bee 2 1/2 years to cure her candida? how long does it take a person to cure there candida on average? Is it always true that you have to be on the diet for one month for every year you've had symptoms?
Guest guest
Hi , Growing and canning your own vegetables is a great idea! Anytime you can make your own food, it's almost always going to be better than store bought. I think you will find that they would be better for you than the pesticides or veggies that have been sitting on a shelf for weeks, even if some of the freshness is lost in the canning process. Freezing vegetables is another option. Pecans are nuts and are okay as long as they are not irradiated or roasted in a factory. Yes, it's true that it took Bee 2 1/2 years to cure her candida. According to Hering's Law of Cure, it does take 1 month for every year you've had a problem to heal it, so the length of time it takes to heal is different depending on how long they've been sick and/or how old they are (since many people were born with candida). More about Hering's Law: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal7.php > > > > Is it true that it took Bee 2 1/2 years to cure her candida? how long does it take a person to cure there candida on average?
