Hello.

I have been using coconut oil as my main source of fat for the first

six months on this diet. I recently decided to add butter which is a

wonderful treat!

I've noticed increased pressure in sinus area, drainage, and mucus in

throat. I've stayed away from dairy for around 4 years due to these

same issues.

It is difficult to tell whether this is a sensitivity to milk solids in

the butter or a healing reaction. I tend towards thinking it's a

sensitivity.

I could clarify the butter, but am wondering... would these issues

eventually disappear as my body and immune system are restored-if I

just continue to have unclarified butter. Has anyone had this

experience?

Thanks so much,

a

Hi a,

Keep in mind that butter is also antifungal, so you might be getting

some healing reactions from that.

I couldn't hurt, though, to clarify your butter for a while to see if

it is a reaction to the milk proteins. If you choose to do that,

don't change anything else in your diet for at least 5-7 days so that

you will know that any reactions (or lack thereof) is because of the

clarified butter.

Hope that helps!
