My son gets a lot of sinus infections not the cause of this for him. When he

is having an episode the membranes surrounding the organs inflame which causes

headaches and sinus problems and stomach pain. Mimics arthritis. And other

problems. Call the dr. and ask him or her to explain. Don't just sit back and

say oh. Our kids are different and nothing is cut and dry with them good

luck char.

My daughter has always had this issue, as well.....I think it is normal. As they

probably have some gastro issues...that hopefully, they will grow out of.

Good Luck,

Fern (mom to age 8-- (diagnosed at 3)

I am not sure but my son almost always has a headache.

With or without the fever. He had an MRI that said

they could see sinus changes that could possibly cause

the fevers. That's what it said on the results sent to

me. No one called to talk to me about it. Does anyone

have anything similar to that? Eva

Dear Mom of Gracie,

It took me a couple of weeks to figure out why our 3yr

old son with was complaining of a " tummyache " .

He mentioned it daily with or without a fever. Turns

out " The Very Hungry Caterpillar " made quite an

impression on him, especially after the caterpillar

gorged on all that food and " that night he had a

stomach ache! " . He has also learned to say " I have a

fever " when we ask him to do something he doesn't want

to do...hard to tell what is real!

Good luck finding the source of Gracie's stomach ache!

We are always watching for symptoms other than fever,

as they could be clues to find out whats really going

on with our children. I would report any new symptoms

to your doctor.

HI Mom of Gracie,

Our son Theo who is now 6 and a half and fever free for 30 weeks,

always had stomach aches. DUring the fever it was worse and always

ended with vomiting at the height of the fevers. But he often had tummy

pain between episodes too.

What I have come to understand over the years is the stomach pain was

due to the inflammatory process, which for Theo very much effected his

gut.

Some of you might recall that we are the people who have been helped by

working with a wholistic doctor. One of the things we did in our

process working with this doctor was to do allergy testing. The

naturopaths did a kind of saliva test. Anyway, Theo came back sensitive

to wheat, not allergic, but a definite sensitivity. One of the things

we have done in his healing process which i am certain has been key is

to cut out wheat and also sugar. We cut sugar because sugar inhibits

immunity and since we are working with an inflammatory immune syndrone,

this made sense to us.

Well, since we made this particular change Theo has not had any stomach

pain.

best to all on your path of healing,

Dawn, Portland, Oregon

Hi Dawn!

I would love to learn more about the process you used to determine sensitivites.

My daugther (now 4 1/2) has been fevering since 16 months and also complains of

her tummy hurting during episodes, but also in between, even when she goes long

between episodes. She also has a lot of little blood vessels on her cheeks

frequently (anyone else notice this?) while fevering and while not fevering.

Does not seem to concern her doctors since they are not " pinpricks " and red. I

don't think you can discuss holistic treatments on here, so if you want you can

send an e-mail to me at dstubbe@...

Have a great day!

Lynn

Hi, Eileen - I'm sorry you're having pain! but any persistent stomach

pain with the band must always be checked out quickly very

thoroughly. NO pain is ever ok. the first step would probably be an

upper GI, and possibly an endoscopy. You should also have an easy

(blood or breath0 test for the common H Pylori stomach bacteria.

About 30-40% of people going to WLS have his infection, but many docs

are not yet testing for it pre-band surgery, or with symptoms lik

yours.

Be careful with taking meds with food. more than 1 tsp will keep the

med IN the pouch and encourage stoma/pouch damage. we want the med

out of there - so one tsp of food (if any) then a full glass of fluid

to wash it thru.

I'd urge you to use the hydrocodone wth TYLENOL, not the kind with

IBUPROPHEN (AN nsaid) when you are already having stomach pain. If

you happen to have something fairly serious going on, an irritating

NSAID is the last thing you want to use.

Please see your band surgeon for a complete eval very soon - pain

requiring a heavy duty pain med like this must always be quickly

evaluated.

Please let us know how you are.

This is one of my newer symptoms I have had over the last year or so, dull or

sharp stomach pains. I don't THINK I have H Pylori as I did a test for it 9

months or so ago. I used to think it was from the hydrocortisone I used to take

but still have these bouts.

I'd been having a good few weeks w/no stomach pain. Then yesterday I started

easing into the supps and I also did 2 meals with HCL, 1 500 w/first meal and 2

500 with second meal with no burning. I was going to increase to 3 today but

tummy ache is back. Could the HCL have aggravated it?

Thanks,

Chris
