Guest guest
Vicki, Do you think it might be a heat rash? Has he been sweating alot? Maybe if it is a heat rash from sweat you could try removing the band several times during the day to wipe his head and helmet and then replace the band. If the rash gets worse or does not improve I would call the orthotist and get it checked out. Some people here have suggested that a little bit of cortisone might help. Haven't tried this myself, but maybe other people here will speak up about it! Marci (Mom to - helmet grad) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Okay, we're day 4 in the band and developing a slight rash on the forehead. Don't think it's a reaction, just stuff to be expected when you have a situation like this where oil and sweat stay on the skin all day. Has anyone else had this? It's very very mild right now, I'm just wondering if it will turn into full-blown " acne " and if anyone has any suggestions for skin care. I am washing with 's baby wash. Guest guest
HI, Vicki! My son got a little heat rash on the back of his neck. That's what it sounds like Collin has. CT told me to put a little Cortaid on it. That cleared it right up. Since Collin is so young, I would use Cortaid for Kids or the lowest percentage of hydrocortisone cream you could find and that also says for sensitive skin. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi, We just went for our casting yesterday - so no personal experience but I asked the Orthotist how kids with Excema do with the helmet. He suggested using goldbond powder on the babe's head before putting it on. I don't know if this will help for your situation. Amy (Elijah's mom - helmet 4/16/01?) Guest guest
Hi Vicki, The same thing happened to a few weeks ago. He hadn't had any trouble with the band until then. I would suggest to take off the band and dry his head. This worked very well for us. I am from Greenville, TX east of Dallas, and I know how hot it can get. I didn't have to put any kind of cream or powder. I just dry his head and put the band right back on. & DOC Band 2/23 > Okay, we're day 4 in the band and developing a slight rash on the > forehead. Guest guest
>>>He suggested using goldbond powder on the babe's head before putting it on. I don't know if this will help for your situation. PLEASE make sure you check with YOUR clinician before using anything on the inside of the band/helmet. Each situation/helmet/band/product is different, and sometimes reactions can occur. Guest guest
a lot of times they don't want you to put anything on under the helmet so make sure you ask your tech first- but zeasorb powder has been reported to work great as well. beck Mom to 3.26.01 banded Memphis, Tn
Guest guest
This is an interesting site. You can type in the name of any skin care products you us and it will tell you how they rate on the toxicity scale. 1 is the lowest (best) and 5 is the highest (worst). Guest guest
Shaklee. Wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing? It might be that they mostly rated brands you could buy in stores. I use Aubrey Organics and it rated very very low in toxicity...almost zero. I also use some Burt's Bees products and they rated basically no toxic ingredients also. That was good news for me to read. Guest guest
Shari, They have a page where you can request info on a certain product if it's not in their database. See if this brings up the right page. EWG Report || Skin Deep
Guest guest
This site has consumer reviews of skin care products (LOTS of them!). It doesn't go into the toxicity of the ingredients etc.. People just rate the products and tell how they felt about them. Arbonne, Aubrey, Mirenesse, Kay and a whole bunch more are listed on it if anyone wants to know what people think of those products. Sorry...no Shaklee ;-(.
