Caffiene is a diuretic (sp?) so I read however much caffiene you have you

should have equal amount water in addition to the 10 glasses you should have

already. I drink a pot of coffee a day. Cant live without my coffee!! LOL

I drink a few litres of water a day, so I think I'm allright there.

If that's the only reason I've decided it's bad, I think I might be

torturing myself for no reason! :)

Thanks, I'm pondering wandering over to the coffee pot right now and

turning it on. I've been torturing myself with this for a couple

days now, I'm just going to do it. I think I was doing it more as a

self control thing than anything. I already know how lacking I am in

that department, especially after a potato chip/cookie pig out last

night. :(

I treat my coffee and Diet Coke as a " treat " . Maybe it's the mind over matter

thing or something. But if I want something sweet I'll have a diet coke and

same goes with the coffee and sit down with a nice big hot cup all by myself and

relax... hmm that sounds like a good idea.... :)

I did exactly that this morning. It's Friday, I'm celebrating. :)

I have a massive caffiene buzz right now though, it feels good to

have that again!

Hi Sara,

What is his rationale for promoting coffee? Used in moderation (no more than 2 cups per day) coffee and tea should be ok. More than this and the tannins will bind various nutrients & inhibit their absorption & cause nutrient deficiences. Don't have any article on this but I'm certian they exist.

Going to be at ASMBS next week?

Hi All, We always tell our patients to choose decaffinated beverages post-op, one of our surgeons promotes drinking caffiene. Does anyone know of any reference articles to support either theory? Let me know! Thanks!
