Guest guest
Does anyone on this list have any idea what can cause kidney pain besides oxalic acid crystals? Husband is still suffering from pain in left kidney area after the black walnut/wormwood tincture he used for parasite cleansing. Any idea on tests he should consider if he decides to go to a doctor? We generally stay away from anyone who is not a naturopathic doctor, but may consider just having some testing done. Any other suggestions are appreciated! Thanks, Patty
Guest guest
In the chance that there are kidney stones: Be sure to take magnesium and B6 every day for the rest of your life. Also, for acute pain, drink the juice of several lemons. This might work immediately. Acupuncture helped my dad, but we were also giving him nutrition too. Of course, if there is another cause, like gas around the kidney, these measures would not help. In that case, the parasite cleansing might have bothered the digestive tract and he should take appropriate healing products - aloe vera, goldenseal, anything soothing. For gas pockets, the product Gas-X helps in a pinch. Charcoal does too. If there is blood or mucus in the stool, I would go that route. A good chiropractic adjustment is in order if it is coming from the back. It would work on the kidneys through somato-visceral reflexes. > Does anyone on this list have any idea what can cause kidney pain besides oxalic acid crystals? Hi Patty, I wish I knew for sure what caused it, but I sure HAD it last spring. After 4 nights of heating pad and other measures I finally went to my orthodox physician. A quick urinalysis revealed a lot of infection and blood. since I had no bladder symptoms and a history of kidney disease in my family this scared me enough to agree to take Macrobid for 10 days. 4th day and the pain disappeared. by the 8th day I was feeling better than I had in several years. 2 days off the abx and I felt like my ususl lousy self! More pain about 8 days later. I had gotten my own test strips at this point and knew there was some infection and still the blood. Like a blooming idiot I agreed to Cipro. NEVER again. 4 days on that stuff and I knew I'd rather be dead, so I ceased it immediately. I upped my magnesium and b-6(which I had been taking since first onset of pain), lots of natural " abx " and by the time I got to the urologist I was symptom free and infection free. However the blood was still showing up on testing. One x-ray and one ultrasound later, showing 'normal', 2 more scopes from the urologist and we've decided I may have passed a stone, who knows, and I still have blood all the time. He said it could just be of idiopathic origin (translation, nobody knows why but since you're fine, we'll ignore it). Two weeks ago the ^($^ & # pain returned, no trace of infection. THIS time I took mg and b-6 till it was practically coming out my ears, and all sorts of kidney herbs, vit A and godknowwswhatelse, and in 2 days all symptoms disappeared. Oh, and I drink tons of water all the time, and had been doing so before the first episode. My guess? I just need a LOT of magnesium, a lot more than I had been accustomed to taking. About 15 years ago I took a seminar on magnetic healing with the late Dr. Broeringmeier and at that time my left kidney tested 'low', in other words, I could be using SOUTH pole energy, but I've always been nervous about doing that and have not done so. Fortunately too, because with infection I could've really messed up that kidney. While I was reading up on 'everything kidney' I did come across the info that in a few cases there are calcium phosphate stones, but I couldn't find any more about it. But magnesium should balance excess phosphorus as well. If you get any diagnosis of the cause of your husband's pain, I hope you post it here. Good luck, Sharon
Guest guest
Dear Patty, It just might be that he stirred up a nest of parasites in the kidney and they are not going quietly. Alternately, there could be a bacterial infection there. Better get a naturopath to have a look. Best of Health! Dr. Saul Pressman, DCh URL: http://www.plasmafire.com email: saul@... Sharon, Thank you so much for sharing all of your experiences regarding your kidneys--w will take all of that into consideration. One question, though. When you took the extra magnesium, did you also up your intake of calcium? It was my understanding that calcium and magnesium should be taken in a 2:1 ratio. Thoughts, anyone? Thanks again! Guest guest
Patty, Along Moria's line of thinking, apple cider vinegar & honey is very good for kidneys. It cleans out the oxylates. Both have to be raw, unfiltered & unpasteurized. 1 tsp each to a glass of water. 3-5 times a day. jim Moria Merriweather wrote: > > Hi Patty, > > Off hand, and knowing NOTHING special about kidneys, > it seems like a kidney cleanse would be good??? > Or taking the kidney cleanse herbs at least. ----- For every human problem, there is a neat, simple solution; and it is always wrong -- H.L. Hi Moria, Yes, my husband has done the kidney cleanse numerous times. In fact, it was the only thing that got rid of his back pain after he suffered for years prior to this latest episode. He is a firm believer in the kidney cleanse. But so far, it hasn't worked this time. It just got really bad after he took the black walnut tincture. So he is looking at other options right now, and just upped his intake of magnesium. We'll keep you posted on the results if anything works really good! Thanks! Guest guest
Patty- Black Walnut tincture is one of the parasite killers, right? Is it possible that your husband is doing some damage to some beasites? And the pain is from their reaction to the tincture? Just a thought. Patty, It *might* be more accurate to say that the ratio is ideal *inside* the body's chemistry. Unless you know your mineral status/ratio, usually by means of a hair analysis(there are now blood tests for mg) you could further imbalance your minerals by this kind of guesswork. I know, I know, it's crazy making! And to make matters worse, there is some new research coming out hinting that the mg should be even higher than 2:1 calc/mg! In the typical western diet we usually consume far more calcium than mg, i.e., mega dairy as opposed to green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds. For the kidney pain, I just went with the idea that mg is frequently out of balance and megadosed it. It worked. If I hadn't had the symptoms that usually indicate a mg need, I would never have taken so much. When something in the body is yelling for attention I go with what I know or can find out. It becomes an intuitive art based on some science! The 'science' told me that kidney stones usually have a calcium component, ergo---no calcium to be taken. I hope you both find YOUR answer! Guest guest
Thanks for all the posts for my husband's kidney pain...they are all very much appreciated. He is doing the apple cider vinegar drinks and taking more magnesium. I do have a tub of MSM in my cupboard that is not being used....I should add that to his arsenal of nutritional weaponry! I'll keep you posted if there are any significant changes..... Patty
Guest guest
Hi Sharon and Patty; In my Life Extensions book (1981, Durke Pearson, Sandy Shaw) it says that an ideal ratio IS closer to1:1 Mg to Ca. It's not new research, but the data WAS suppressed/ignored/obfusticated for 12 years as was practically ALL of Life Extension Foundations research, while the foundation was under 'investigation' by the FDA. And like Dr. 's case, this case, too, was dropped. Life Extension was a runaway bestseller in 1981. There's a copy in the local bookstore for only $3.00 CA. Best book on clinical nutrition. Anyone want it? ciao Duncan
Guest guest
Dear Sharon, It is true that most people are short magnesium. Homozon is a very good way to make that up. Solves a lot of other problems too, like episodic constipation, a common problem for women. Concentrace is another good source. But, calcium deposition anywhere in the body (kidneys, bone spurs, arteries, joints) is always a symptom of TOO LITTLE calcium, not too much. The reason is that when there is a deficiency, parathyroid hormone is released, and the body makes a withdrawal from the calcium bank : the skeleton, home to 95% of the calcium in the body. Then, since the process is not precise, there is usually an overshoot, with too much calcium now available. The body has two choices : redeposit in another locale (leading to arthritis, MS, scleroderma, kidney stones, and many other diseases) or excrete it. Best of Health! Guest guest
, If you don't mind talking about this, what type of cancer were your two family members dealing with? I have a friend at work who's husband has a cancer in his lung and lymph. This friend is new to the idea of alternative meds, but open to it. Perhaps the flora- essence might be a easier to accept point of departure for them. Thanks, > Flora must be a good company, because their > Flor-Essence Tea has kicked several cancer > butts in my family. Well, since I'm definitly a most uncommon woman<G>, that has been the big reason why I haven't used Homozon beyond my original experimentation. > Concentrace is another good source. this I do use, frequently. > > But, calcium deposition anywhere in the body (kidneys, bone spurs, > arteries, joints) is always a symptom of TOO LITTLE calcium, not too much. I *think* that even with too little calcium, if it's in proper ratio with phosphorus, it will NOT deposit but stay in solution. Which brings me to the question of exactly *how* MG works with CA? Is there a brief biochemistry lesson in anyone's head? > > The reason is that when there is a deficiency, parathyroid hormone is > released, and the body makes a withdrawal from the calcium bank : the > skeleton, > home to 95% of the calcium in the body. And that reminds me of Dr. Royal Lee, who many years ago claimed that D3 would act just like the parathyroid. D3 is very important for bone building so how does this relate to the parathyroid hormone being released? Perhaps Lee meant that D3 would prevent that unwanted release? having fun learning, Sharon
Guest guest
Hi Vicki, If the pain source is his stomach, Kombucha might be very helpful however if it is his kidneys, I would be very careful in suggesting Kombucha. Kombucha is great for stomach and intestinal problems. It is a wonderful aid to healthy digestion. OTOH Kombucha filters toxins through the kidneys, especially when you first start using it, and if there is already a problem with the kidneys it might do more harm than good to add Kombucha. There may be some situations where Kombucha would help kidney problems but it would be better to know what is going on with the kidneys first, if possible. In any case, anyone first starting Kombucha, especially anyone with health issues, would do well to start slowly with a small amount and increase slowly. It is also very important to drink plain water and that again has to do with the kidneys filtering toxins as well as to keep the body hydrated. Guest guest
I have kidney stones and the kombucha hasn't irritated them at all but I wouldn't suggest it if the source of his pain is uncomfirmed. You can have vague pain as you describe with kidney stones and I would suggest that your friend aggressively persue ultra sound and CAT scan of the urinary system for " silent stones " . JMHO but I've the experience of been there... done that. Debbie On 9/8/07, Skibum80488 <vickilittle@...> wrote: > Hi group.
