Guest guest
Well, there's no such thing as " normal " , but it isn't uncommon. I didn't get a first fill for over five months and lost over 60 pounds in that time. So, as with everything else, it " all depends " . And I've only had two. Lucky? Maybe. Because of going back to my doc for the fills under fluoro? Probably. dan Can anyone relate? > Hi everyone? Is anyone unfilled but still feeling restricted. I am > completely unfilled but feeling restricted when I am eating certain > foods. I am wondering if thats " normal " . Sorry for your problems. My 1st question to you is what size band you have and what have been the fill amounts you have been given? My 2nd question is have you meet with a nutritionist to learn about quality foods, food portions and food decisions? Before any of us fellow bandsters can make suggestions, we need to see some history. Like myself, I have the VG band that can hold up to 10.5cc of saline. My cc adjustments are larger than for the smaller bands that can only hold up to 4cc of saline. I am at 8.2cc presently. My second question refers to the learning that we all must have to live with and properly use food to not hurt ourselves or the band. Our own experiences teaches us what we can or cannot eat that is tolerated by the new stomach that the Band has created. I can tell you that from what fellow female bandsters say, inflamation is an ongoing battle throughout each month for them. For me, the following has helped me greatly: No breads. No tortillas. No crackers. No fried foods. You mentioned Pizza. I can but choose not to buy pizza, but when the cravings hit(and they do hit us food lovers) I can buy a lg slice but only eat the toppings, not the crust. AND I LOVE PIZZA. It is all in the choices we make. You have made the choice to be Banded, now continue to make the right choices. God Bless. Guest guest
Hey ..thanks for your reply. I am not even sure what kind of band I have. I know that my band can only hold I think either 4cc or 5cc. I got in the U.S. I had 3 unsuccessful fills. One fill I got about 6 weeks post up. My second fill was in about 6 six months post up. I then got completely unfilled due to not able to tolerate solids. After being unfilled and being on meds for heart burn..I went back to my doctor and got another fill. I think the last time was a 1cc fill. I couldn't tolerate that fill either, so I went back and go that removed as well. So now I am completely unfilled and gaining weight. I've also just had my first child so I had to be unfilled, but I've gained over 100lbs during pregnancy. So I need to do something. I am going to see a new doctor on May 11. We'll see how that goes. I can be honest and say that I haven't gotten proper support or the complete understanding of the band. I mean I know how it works but as far as the rules are concerned I am just not sure. I never got proper support from my surgeon or support groups. And I am just so sad that it took me so long to speak out. Its been about 5 years since I am struggling with the band. I've joined the support groups in hopes that I can learn from others in the same boat and its been a great help. <jgonzy56@...> wrote: > Is anyone unfilled but still feeling restricted. I've joined the support groups in hopes that I can learn from others in the same boat and its been a great help. **** I'm glad to hear you have not given up. The Band is a great tool and with it you will be successful in dropping the weight you want. Your fellow bandsters here on this group and on many others are willing to give you the advice you want. Let me start off by sending you some basic rules to help guide you. Best wishes and God bless. ******* 10 Important Rules Here are ten rules for eating, drinking, and exercise that wil help you to get the best results you can with the LAP-BAND System. How willing you are to follow a new way of eating is key to haveing success with this tool. 1. Eat only 3-4 small meals a day. 6-8 oz each. 2. Eat slowly and chew thouroughly. 3. Stop eating as soon as you feel full or finished the portions. 4. Do not drink while you are eating or for 45-60 minutes after eating. 5. Do not eat between meals. 6. Eat only good quality foods. 7. Avoid fibrous foods. 8. Drink 6-8 glasses of non-caloric fluids a day. 9. Take liquid vitamins twice a day. 10. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. ******** Before getting a fill, ask yourself these questions. Are you getting enough protein? Are you avoiding liquid calories? Are you making healthy food choices? Are you eating proper food portions? Are you avoiding soft foods? Are you drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day between meals? Are you avoiding drinking during and for at least 45 minutes after meals? Are you avoiding junk foods? Are you eating protein first, then veggies? Are you eating only when you are hungry? Are you sitting down to eat? No distractions. Are you committed to weight loss? Are you honest to yourself about how much you are eating? Avoid all liquid calories. -Soups -Alcohol -All fruit juices -All soft drinks. No carbonation. Proper portion sizes. -Meat and fish - 3 oz is the size of a deck of cards. -Vegetables - 1/2 cup is the size of your fist. -No rice, potatoes, pasta and fried foods. Now that you are following the above guidelines, you may need a fill if: -You are making healthy food choices in appropriate portion sizes but getting hungry within 2-3 hrs after eating. -Your weight loss has stopped for 3 wks even though you are controlling portions and getting in enough protein and avoiding liquid calories. -You are not drinking with meals. -You are hungry between meals even after a proper band snack. *******

Guest guest
Hi Bee and everyone, I'm new to the group and so thankful to have this community. Not just for the health information and tips, but just to know that there are other people going through the same thing. I'm a woman in my twenties and I have had candida for about three-four years. I have been on the diet and working with a doctor who understands the issue for several months. Systemically I feel so much better that I'm like a new person, but I cannot get rid of the vaginal yeast infections. All the information on topical treatments is wonderful and I will try them but I was wondering if anyone has thoughts to share about how they have dealt with how alienating having vaginal yeast is. I kept my health problems from my friends for years, and I haven't dated in years because I have had constant infections and I'm too afraid and embarrassed to explain my problem. Can anyone else relate to this? I would appreciate any thoughts, thanks! Randy

Can anyone else relate to this? +++Hi Randy. Welcome to our group. I can emphathize with you about having vaginal yeast, since I had it for over 25 years before curing my candida over 20 years ago. This program is unlike any others, which is why it is successful where others fail, even those perscribed by doctors. The reason is mainly because of its high " good " fats which are so important for health and for cleansing the entire body, for rebuilding cells, and they even get rid of heavy metals. Another reason is because most people don't realize candida is not cured by " killing it off. " It doesn't work that way. Candida is only cured by building up the immune system so it becomes strong enough to " make " candida " change back " into the friendly organism it was before it started overgrowing. So vaginal yeast can be treated to alleviate the discomfort, but it is only cured by doing the entire program. My vaginal yeast was the last thing to cure after doing my program for 2 1/2 years. All treatments I did in the meantime didn't cure it. But it takes time to build up the immune system, which takes 1 month for every year you've been unhealthy. For most people nowadays that is since before birth. But you can't go wrong following Nature's Fundamental Laws on health by giving your body the nutrients it requires so it is able to heal itself naturally. Please ensure you read so you understand what you need to do and why: How to Successfully Overcome Candida Curing Candida, How to Get Started http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/candida/index.php For encouragement see these Success Stories by members of this group, who have cured many health problems on this program: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/index.php That because this isn't just a candida program, it is a natural healing program that improves anyone's health. The best, Bee
