Guest guest
I have been reading posts here for a little while and finally decided to jump in. I was referred here from the GAPs forum. I am suffering terribly from grastric reflux disease. I have a hiatal hernia and the doctor wants me to have surgery on my grastric esophageal muscle to tighten it up. He says I have very little parastalsis action in my esophagus. (sorry for all the misspelled words) I was on proton pump inhibitors for around 12 years and went off of them on my own about 3 months ago. The doc says that I am destroying my esophagus without the pills, but I got so sick after being on them for so long. I think they are also responsible for my chronic insomnia, severe depression, anxiety, hair loss, and profound fatigue. He says I must be on them for the rest of my life or have the surgery. I am in a lot of pain. It comes and goes, right in the center of my chest. Someone from the GAPs group was so kind to suggest that I post my issues here and that this might be a better way to go. I have been doing " Nourishing Traditions " for about 3 months. Not getting any better. Can anyone advise me? I really don't want to have surgery. Thank you, Kathy

I believe it is very possible to avoid surgery if you do this program. When you stop taking proton pump inhibitors you can get a lot of pain since the body kicks back by over-producing acid. So yes, that can erode your esophagus. I even threw up blood from vessels in my esophagus bursting. However, there is a lot you can do right now. First, get a good unpasteurized unsalted sauerkraut (or make it yourself - NT has a great recipe); eat 1/2 cup with every meal and also eat 1-2 tablespoons every time your stomach hurts or your esophagus burns - you'll need to carry it with you everywhere until your stomach acid stabilizes, which takes about 3 weeks. The reason sauerkraut works so good is because it lowers stomach acid if it is too high, and it raises it if it is too low - so it is a natural stomach acid stabilizer. Second do things I recommend for improving digestion which are in my article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " , and start on my candida program. Also read " Curing Candida, How to Get Started. " Both articles are on this menu: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/candida/index.php The best in health, Bee
Guest guest
Kathy, My doctor also told me I would have to be on proton pump inhibitors for the rest of my life; I was 22 at the time and so that looked like a mighty long stretch of time to me! I was on them for almost 7 years, and I just got off them this past September, using this diet, and most especially, the sauerkraut. I can't emphasize it enough. That, and fresh ginger tea. You can find the particulars on Bee's website. They will become your best friends, LOL. All the best on your healing journey! andra > I have been reading posts here for a little while and finally decided > to jump in. I was referred here from the GAPs forum.
