Guest guest
They didn't run a TSH test? It isn't part of the thyroid panel and needs to be ordered seperately. I have no clue when it comes to hyperthyroidism...this is the first time I've talked to someone who went hyperthyroid during treatment...so Claudine or Doc are going to have to help you. I do know that if my cat's T4 were 2.89 it would be at the high end of normal, but I don't know what T4 count is in humyns...I'd have to look it up. Hypothyroidism is a common side of treatment...on occasion it returns to normal but for the most part you end up on synthroid for the rest of your life. It's easily controlled with meds (synthroid). Think of your thyroid as the engine in a car. When it isn't working (hypo) you are sluggish and fatigued. When it's over working, you would be bouncing off the walls. What treatment are you doing and how far along are you? Tatezi (who is trying to catch up on mail since I can't sleep tonight) thyroid problems Hello, We are anxious about the results of th elast thyroid test results: Anti TG > 3000 ATPO 482 FT3 5.61 FT4 2.89 FTH 0.007 Thyroid antibodies are exteremely higher than the acceptable levels. And there is the evidence of hyperthyroidsm. Are these results normal side effects and reversible? Thanks
Guest guest
when I was on treatment, my TSH went a bit up (5/6), and one symptom is it makes women gain weight. But when I went off treatment, it returned to normal.(2) Alley

Guest guest
I was hypo before treatment. Taking Synthroid every day. When on treatment my hype level was less, and my medication had to be reduced. After treatment my hypo status returned to what it was before. I know that treatment often affects thyroid function. Apparently the effect isn't always the same. Follow up with your doctor. Guest guest
-----Original Message----- From: Dawnbeliever@... [mailto:Dawnbeliever@...] .. my liver .. i give up.. thsi is bad.. my liver is going.. damn.. sorry .. really down of late and feel like life it so bad.. Dawn- Willem is right, you can't give up just yet. Depression is part of this lousy disease too, and the hormonal changes us lucky women get to go through during perimenopause. I've been fighting it for several years now, I finally broke down and started taking St 's Wort. It has been very effective-it is a relief. I don't know if you are on any anti-depressants, if so and it is not effective, see if your doc will let you try another kind. Or, if like me, you prefer herbals over traditional meds, try St 's Wort; although, this is very important-St 's Wort has been found to have interactions with certain medications-that should be researched thoroughly before using it if you are on any traditional Rxs. But, even before taking something for the depression, the blackness always seemed to clear-if just for a little while, to give you a glimpse of life again. Hold on for those times. Here's hoping that when you do start treatment in the summer as you are planning (see, you are looking forward to the future), that you reach the coveted SVR we all hope for. gail

Guest guest
Dear Dawn, Slow down, dear. Do not dispair. Everyone of us has gone through what you're going through right now. The Brain Fog is the most irritating side effect of the Interferon and the most depressing. Try working crossword puzzles or video games, so that you teach your brain to function through unused routes. You'll find that this works, just not as efficiently. The good news is that keeping occupied with these things will relieve your depression. I know you feel like death warmed over, but in the end it will be worth it. Guest guest
HI.Yes the brainfog. We all suffered from it.No Doc. has ever given an explanation for it.The good thing is that it disappears after completing treatment.I had to put notes everywhere and on the inside of the frontdoor I had a notice which said ...Heater off?.Gas off? got your keys? got your wallet? did you feed the cat and birds?...Now I can sort of laugh about it.I never thought about doing crosswords etc.A very good advise indeed.You.ll get over and through this ordeal Dawn,it.s only takes time.Courage,Willem. Guest guest
Once, when I was on treatment I dropped someone off at Logan Airport in Boston. When I got back to the 5th floor of central parking my car keys were in the door. Another time I left a store and didn't realize I had gone the wrong direction until the road ended in the middle of a pasture - I was in Maine. I left a gas cap on the top of my car, something I hadn't done in maybe 30 years. It got so bad I thought I shouldn't drive anymore. It has been almost a year since treatment and all of that has stopped. I was very relieved. I need my car.
