Guest guest
My son has what has been called a mild case of plagio. He is 5 months old. We are trying to decide whether to band or not. Any thoughts out there?
Guest guest
My son (at 6 months) was diagnosed with a mild case by his pediatrician and a pediatric plastic surgeon. And because I looked at him every day, I didn't think it was that bad either. didn't have much hair (he was bald, actually), so I thought when his hair grew in it would look better. Well, finally we decided to go ahead with the DOC band anyway and I am SO glad we did!!! In just 3 weeks, we have already seen significant improvement. His head is rounding out and looking more normal. Now I can't believe we even thought of not doing it. The orthotist at Cranial Technologies pointed out that really has a moderate to severe case of plagio because he has a completely flat head in the back and it is pushed in on one side. So, he has 2 issues to correct. His ped and the pediatric plastic surgeon don't see plagio cases every day, so they don't know what to look for as much as an orthotist who specializes in plagio. I am so glad that we went to CT for an evaluation. It really made me realize how mis-shapen 's head really is. doesn't mind the band at all and our family has really become used to it. I will never look back and regret not doing everything possible to make my child as beautiful as God intended him to be. Even with a mild case...I would go for it. You have nothing to lose and a round noggin to gain! Good luck, (mommy to DOC band 3-9-01) ----- Original Message ----- From: we3213212001@...
