Guest guest
Hey everybody! I went to AC (craft supply store) last night and got all the supplies needed to decorate Kaylie and Danny's STARband. I sponge painted Kaylie's yellow and did flower and butterfly rub-on transfers. Danny's is sponge painted navy blue with planets, stars, rockets and an astronaut on it. They really turned out so cute, I was very impressed with myself and feeling like Martha . This morning I spray painted on the acrylic sealer to help keep the transfers and stickers on....the transfers started to shrivel up! They looked like those shrinky dinks. Did this happen to anyone else using the transfers? What did I do wrong? Am I using the wrong sealer, what am I supposed to use instead? Oh well, back to suare one and AC (not that I mind, I LOVE that store!) Take Care, Niki Kaylie & Danny (STARband 4.5.01) Phila., PA
Guest guest
Niki: This morning I spray painted on the acrylic sealer I used the spray sealer at first, and although it didn't shrivel up the transfers, it didn't provide much protection! Use acrylic VARNISH. I got mine at 's, and it was HomeDecor brand, and it came in a small plastic tub. You apply it with a brush (I used a sponge brush, but be careful cuz if you goop too much on at once, it starts to leave bubbles - hmm, maybe use a regular brush! ;o) It's a very thick liquid. Good luck! Kendra in CanadaFor more plagio info, go towww.plagiocephaly.org/support ----- Original Message ----- From: niki_jay175@... Guest guest
Kellie, I have heard that some people cover the sticker with clear nail polish to keep it protected. Marci
Guest guest
Kellie: When I put varnish over paper stickers, the colours ran. You can still do it, but apply it thick and FAST! Don't brush over it more than once (you can do more than one coat, but the first one must be done quickly) Good luck! I am painting my son's helmet right now and was wondering if I put the varnish on before or after applying paper stickers? I am creatively challenged so when it comes to this stuff, I have no clue. I guess what I mean to say is, is there a way to protect the paper stickers when you stick them on?Kellie ( Mom of , nine month, helmeted 10/17/01For more plagio info
