Guest guest
Hi! I'm Kim, mom to and Emmy, 7 1/2 month olds. They've been in helmets for about a month now. They have adapted well and we've seen some good head growth. As an FYI, they have flat heads across the back sides of their heads. Question - we had a 90 degree day here in Northern VA yesterday and they were sweating like pigs (and stinking like sweat, too). Can't wait for the summer. UGH! Any suggestions aside from taking off their helmets? Also, they have clear, see-through plastic helmets (with padding here and there). Anyone else have that style? It seems like a lot of babies here are in DOC bands - they sound good, too. Looking forward to chatting with you all. I belong to a twins club here in Northern VA and so far I haven't met any other moms who have their babies in helmets (surprising, I think). So, I'm grateful to have found a group like this. Guest guest
Kathy, We live in Reston, VA. Our neurosurgeon is Dr. Kathleen French of Fairfax, VA but we've only seen her once. We've seen our orthotist about 8 times in 3 weeks! They are Orthotic Solutions in Fairfax, VA (Merrifield area) and they make the helmets there. When I asked Dr. French about the DOC bands (because I had heard good things about them), she didn't seem think it was an option - she said the closest office was in Charlotte, NC. But, the clear, plastic helmets are working out great! Kim > > Hi! I'm Kim, mom to and Emmy, 7 1/2 month olds. They've been > > in helmets for about a month now. Guest guest
Hi Kim! I also have twins, Hope and Evan, and Hope is currently waiting for her Starband to arrive. Evan also has plagio, but not as severe, so at the moment, we are trying to reposition him and giving it a few weeks to see how that affects things, before we go the helmet route with him too. I am also member of a local multiples group, and seem to be the only one dealing with this. I guess the others have all been lucky. Im spreading the word about plagio, tummy time, and all that in the group, and people are really interested. No one seems to have been warned about these things by pediatricians etc. Good luck to you, and Emmy, and post some pictures in the file section when you get the chance! Guest guest
Kim, Dr. French is 's neurosurgeon. Becuase whe had to have surgery, the only option to us was the DOC Band. We go to Paramus, NJ every two weeks for adjustments. Do I wish we could go to Fairfax. Kathy > > > Hi! I'm Kim, mom to and Emmy, 7 1/2 month olds.
