Re: Ringing in the Ears

I have a constant ringing in my ears. I've had my hearing checked

before, and It's always been normal. It's been a few years since I

had it checked, though.

Ringing in the ears is called Tinnitus and has nothing to do with

how well you hear or don't hear. The description/definition

according to the medical dictionary I looked in is:

" A sound in one or both ears, such as buzzing, ringing or whistling,

occuring without an external stimulus and usually caused by a

specific condition, such as an ear infection, the use of certain

drugs, a blocked auditory tube or canal, or a head injury. "

What it doesn't say is that another potential cause (particularly

where chronic, long-term tinnitus is involved and there is no

diagnosed basis) is a misalignment of the cranial bones, especially

the temporal and/or parietal bones. If this is the cause, it can be

treated with cranialsacral therapy. In many instances, the problem

can be made to go bye-bye with just one session.

Let me know if you would like more info on this.

I think I read that too and it is one of the reasons I am desperate to

figure out the thyroid thing. The ringing is incessant and driving me

bats!

I am with you on this. It sounds as if I have 100 crickets in my

head. Last week I could hear it OVER a loud football game on TV. It

is driving me nuts.

Thanks for sharing this Cheri, it was really interesting. Several

things resonated with me and I just booked an appointment for

craniosacral therapy on Friday. Has anyone else tried this? Does

anyone else have past traumas you think might have caused you to lock

into the fight or flight mode? It sounds plausible based on my

childhood, but then again, doesn't everyone have some sort of

physical, social, emotional trauma at some point in their childhood?

I think ongoing trauma can affect adrenals like being in an abusive home

growing up, because being in a constant fight or flight state can wear down

adrenals. Also, when cortisol is low it makes a person's response to trauma

worse than a person who had healthy levels. I sent an article on this a

couple of weeks ago. So I think addressing the cortisol first and then

dealing with any past trauma as a complimentary medicine for those who are

still carrying issues around can certainly help.

I know with me being in stage 7 my patience and response to stress has

diminished dramatically. I am normally very good natured but get irritable

when my condition worsens.

Just last week, Pam posted this:

I was fed up with the ringing in my ears tonight, found

your post re B3 niacinamide .... had an unopened bottle in the

pantry, TOOK THE B3, and within FIVE MINUTES, the ringing stopped.

Incredible!

If i ever get it again, I will try this.

B3 niacinamide is supposed to be good for mercury poisoning too and ringing

in the ears is a big symptom of mercury poisoning, so this is very

interesting. Thanks for posting that. Something I need to look into further.

I get cranio-sacral and reflexology regularly, I find it very helpful.

In fact in reflexology the massage therapist picked up right away on

thyroid problems, and also on my liver issues before I got tested. I

used to have a very unbalanced spinal rhythm which took a long time to

'fix'. But now I go into a much better balance quickly. Cranio has

released painful joints better than any direct massage treatment and

without the level of pain I experience from direct body work on

joints/muscles.

I'm really going to miss these treatments.

I've had craniosacral treatments. There's a woman I know well in our area who

does it. I really like it a lot and it's very healing.
