I'm kind of in the same boat but I have the blessing of my episodes being

intermittent rather than constant. I have some level of problem about 25% of

the time. I know it is difficult to come to terms with this disease but one

must do the best you can with self awareness, hydration, effective

analgesics, diet, etc. I can only give you my

Hi Newbie,

First of all, let me welcome you to our group. You will find lots of

sage advice, tips, support and whatever else you need just at the

time you need it! What a great place this has been for me! I hope

you find what you need here.

Secondly, pancreas and surgery are words that are never used in the

same sentence in the doctor's office! There are two here that are

recovering from surgery, and others who have had it in the past, but

docs just don't want to go there. You are so right. They just want

to treat the symptoms~pain and nausea~and that is that!

Good luck to you. Sounds like you are on the right path. Keep in

touch and let us know how you do.

Be well,

Greetings Barbara!

> First time I've ever heard a male person talk

> about men not talking!!!

Shhh! I was hoping no one would notice! ;-)

Seriously, as a child I spent more time talking with my father by not

talking! We worked side by side on projects - even when not saying a word.

We now share more than normal. But when we get together, it's not unusual

to find us just sitting together not saying much.

This isn't " less is more " . It is a realization that best conversations

don't require words.

You were lucky you had a male parent with whom you could commune in that way. But I now men (and many, many of them) who do not talk and simply evade every issue by not facing up to it.

Now, pile on us girls!

Hi

I am , but my friends call me Stevie. I am 61 years old and

I am going to have the surgery in Fremont CA just as soon as I lose

10%. That's a total of 27 lbs. I have lost 7 so far. I am hoping to

lose the rest by the end of February or March. Meanwhile I am trying

to increase my exercise in preparation for the future. I will tell

y'all how I am doing every now and then. I am much encouraged after

reading some of your messages.

thank you

Stevie

Hi Stevie, I am LaWanda and am also a Kaiser Freemont patient as is my

husband, Dan. I had 29 pounds to lose when I began, and I am about halfway

there. Welcome to the list, this is a warm and caring group of

people. Welcome to the journey that we're all taking together, a journey

where you'll experience many things, some bad but most of them

good. Please let us hear from you, we want to know how you're

doing. LaWanda At 08:23 PM 12/17/04, you wrote:

Kurt, I know that you have gotten some replies from the group. Can you

share some information about your sister-in-law? How was she diagnosed and

what kind of symptoms are progressing rapidly? What kind of doctors is she

seeing, and how much experience do they have with sarcoidosis, especially

NS? I'm 56, I've have NS for 6 years. I do have some permanent

deficits--hearing loss, peripheral neuropathy (numbness & pain in feet)--and

some other chronic symptoms like fatigue & muscle weakness that I hope will

improve on a new treatment regimen. Please give us as much info as you can,

as soon as you can, including what medications she's been on/is on. Rose,
