HELP!!!

Hi Everyone,

I don't write often, but I do read all your messages. My computer at home is

still broken after many months and I just haven't had a chance to get it

fixed yet.

I have a question...I am 35 and already have the beginnings of Osteoperosis.

I have been taking Medrol almost since the beginning of my hives for 9 years

and have never been completely off. That was the reason for the 2 bone

density tests I had done. I've tried Fosamex (got ulcers), and Miacalcin

which is a nasal spray, but it didn't give me the results I had hoped for. I

have gone to a " super specialist " in this field, and he is suggesting that I

get Pamidronate (or Aredia) infusions, every 3 months for a year. This

medication was originally used for cancer patients who's bones started

getting brittle from their illness & chemo. It sounds a little scary, but

I've asked & asked and they say the side effects are minimal in comparison to

the results (flu like symptons for a day or 2). It will replace my bone mass

that has been lost and bring me back to the normal range for my age.

And...in the hopes of having children in my future (if I ever meet

someone!!!), it will make my body stronger to handle pregnancy.

This all seems very scary to me, since it's been used in conjunction with

cancer treatments...but at the same time, it seems like it might be a

wonderful solution.

Has anyone ever heard of this type of treatment? If so, please let me know

what you have heard...and has anyone undergone it? I have looked on the Web,

but there are so many articles, it is too time consuming to look through them

all. Does anyone know of a website that I might be able to obtain any

information on this?

Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you all soooooo much. Sharon

PS - you can e-mail me direct if you'd like (SAM1NYC@...)...THANKS!!!

This has been an excellent support for many people. Things have only

recently gotten a little out of sorts with a few members. Please be encouraged

I have a question though, all you that have complaints, why are you just now

speaking up...? Just wondering....

And you know all you have to do is post and someone will help you or try to.

My daughter has BPD and I deal with it by myself, and I have survived this

" chaos " ...don't bother me, I just don't read it if it I don't want to....

this site and have found myself overwhelmed by the " chios " that is

going back and forth. I have an 18 year old dtr with BPD and am

married to a BPD man.

I work a full time, I have 3 kids.... son 20, non-bp.... daughter 18,

bp..... son 11 (diag with Bi-polar)

I am in the process of leaving my husband, can't deal with all of

this anymore.....

I would love to find a group to talk to however, I have no time to

seek one that I can attend face to face. I was hoping this would be

a place for me to get suggestions and advice from people that have

gone through the stage I am in. I am not certain now if this is turly

the place I can get that support.

There are so many things I would like to ask if there is somewhere

out there any of you know I could do that.

Thanks for listening and any suggestions you have on a good support

system.

I havea son who is non-BP also 20, and a daughter who is BP and Bipolar too. I

know sometimes the website does go off tract at times, but I hae been on over 2

years and it always seems to get back on. Stay on an post. Usually when

something is going on with me, I just read and don't post (but that is just me)

then when I can get my thoughts together about my daughter that's when I post.

So my posts are less frequent than others, but we all use this site how we need

to. Stay on and be patient. You can learn alot.

Welcome
