The Life Extension Foundation has a good protocol for this.

Ribavirin is very helpful. Due to overt corruption in our government,

the FDA has declared Ribavirin will never be approved for this

indication, but since it is available any doc can Rx it for anything

they want. They just have to know to do it. It is also widely

available abroad.

Many people with chronic active hepatitis C require intravenous

vitamin C once or twice a week for several months to clear it.

We have discussed assorted antiviral supplements on list earlier.

If anyone wants more information than they can find at www.lef.org,

contact me privately.

Hi Vicky,

My son has Haemophilia and his treatment with blood products made him prone to

blood borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis. Fortunately he now uses

recombinant Factor VIII. I remember that many boys contracted HCV a few years

ago and most are now asymptomatic after treatment with iv Interferon. In

England you would need to see you doctor and get a referral to a haematologist.

HCV is a potentially life threatening virus and should not be ignored.

Best wishes,

Terry Fitton, Birmingham.

Hi KerryAnn,

Your friend may want to consider taking silymarin (milk thistle weed), it is an

excellent herb for cleansing and supporting the liver and has been very

successful in treating Hepatitis C.

http://www.mdidea.com/products/herbextract/silymarin/data.html. My naturopath

said it is also excellent for the regulation of blood sugar. Another common use

is to promote lactation in breastfeeding women. Please note that while rare,

large doses can actually cause a person to lactate. I only mention this in case

it happens to your friend, as it could be quite worrying. I would also advise

they look for a high quality supplement, pharmaceutical grade if possible. I

don't know where you live, but I am sure a local health food/supplements store

could advise your friend. I have some books that I am happy to consult if you

would like more info etc... Please feel free to e-mail me directly if you like.

Best wishes for your friend -

Cheers

Does anyone know about nutritional supports or treatments for Hepatitis C?

I introduced lacto-fermented foods to them today and sent them home with

enough sauerkraut to get them through until theirs is ready. They will be

removing soy from their diet as well. They already make bone broths and eat

organ meats, grass-fed meats and free-range eggs, eat very little sweetener,

and little processed food.

What else would be a good nutritional support or supplements specific for

Hepatitis C?

Thanks,

KerryAnn

I don't know if it's nutritional per se, but Milk Thistle Seed

Extract is widely touted as being able to rebuild damaged liver

cells; which seems like it would be very helpful in the case of

hepatitis.

I believe betaine from beets is also supposed to be helpful in liver

cleansing or something.

Another one is dandelion, and there's a book " Dandelion Medicine "

which is more just dandelion lore and recipes but very interesting.

My PA Dutch friends still pick dandelion greens to eat before they

bloom as a spring treat.

My mother in law had hepatitis that she got from a blood transfusion

long ago. Over time she lost the ability to digest fat, which her

family (two of them doctors) misunderstood as her becoming anorexic.

Fats made her sick. Looking back, I believe she would have greatly

benefitted from raw coconut oil, which I didn't know about at the

time. Probably raw milk as well but she didn't think she could drink

milk.

Kerry Ann have you learned anything more to aid in this? I am

wondering if a person can be healed of it or not through dietary

changes.

,

I gathered the information and passed it onto the person who was asking. I

haven't followed up yet. My understanding is that once you have it, you

have it, and most of the suggestions I received were for the acute phase of

it. I just haven't had any more time to invest in it to get more

information.
