Amy

I have one of these :-) One of the effects is to make me swing between

hyper and hypo. It runs in my family and I've had it since teenage

years, possibly before. I'm in the UK and the NHS is very bad at

endocrinology.

I started taking Lugol's a few weeks ago so it's too soon to say whether

it will shrink the goitre although it does seem to be ever so slightly

smaller.

Amy, I have a goiter on the left side of my thyroid that the doctor

said he wanted to shrink with Levothroid but it is giving me too

many problems and I want to get off of it. I started taking Ioderol

a few weeks ago too but I don't know yet if it will shrink it. I am

hoping it does.

You said levothroid gave you problems. So is Iodoral, and what is your

dosage?

please, please, please, keep me up to date!!! I am very interested in

how you do. Also, do you have anything else like hypo/hyper etc...I

have nothing.

Thanks for replying!

Take care...amy

Hi Amy,

I was first put on .125mcg. Levothroid, then .112, then .088. I was

having digestive problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, sleeplessness,

and I lost weight without trying. I lost too much weight. I recently

took myself down to .044 mcg. of Levothroid by breaking the tablet

in half. My goal is to get off of it completely if I can. I started

Ioderol several weeks ago. I started with 1/2 tablet, then 1, now am

taking 2 each day. I have not had any problems with that dosage that

I did not have before I started Ioderol. My doctor said I was

neither hypo nor hyper when he started me on meds but he doesn't

test FT3 which I understand is very important. I have developed

hyper symptoms since being on the meds which is why he took my

dosage down. Right now on .044 mcgs I am not sure exactly where I

am. I am slowly gaining back a few pounds but still have rapid heart

beat sometimes. My digestive problems are better. I will be looking

for a new doctor when we move in a few weeks so hopefully I will

find a good one.

I think it will be very hard to find a doc who knows about Iodoral---maybe an ND. I think you will feel best when you take 25mg 2X a day and get off the T4 med.

You are on a very low dose of Levothroid so that's a good sign that you may be able to get off of it with the right support from other items. My mom's Dr just had her start upping her dose of Iodoral. She had been taking 25 mgs. on her own. He is a Dr in Dr. Brownstein's practice but is very different I am finding. He recommended that she add 12.5 each two weeks and hold that dose until she got to 50 mgs. So the first 2 weeks she would do 37.5 mgs and then the next week would be at 50 mgs. She has had problems with detoxing on other products so he didn't want to throw her there. She had an abnormal therm a few weeks ago so he gave her some detoxing homeopathy products for the breast too. She has a repeat therm in May. Anyway, I digress. LOL! My point is that if you ease into the Iodoral higher doses you may do better. I recently had to back off from 75 mgs due to fatigue. Dr. B thinks it is detoxing on my part too. It will be difficult to find someone who follows the protocols of iodine supplementation that we talk about here.
