Hi Arnold,

I read your post and waited to see if anyone would reply. I rarely

post on this forum because I belong to three other forums and two of

them are for Advanced Bionic implant users. You may find it helpful

to join some other forums to get a different " slant " on the CI you

are about to get.

This forum is the first one I joined and gained so many wonderful

insights about what to expect with a CI, the surgery and recovery,

and other things.

I was implanted with AB Auria on 8/30/06 and activated on 9/27/06. I

am amazed at what I can hear! I wore two hearing aids for 20 years

and I am 64 now. I am like a kid again and can tell you that

rejoining life with the best hearing I have had in 20 years is

something I will never take for granted. Hearing birds, dogs barking,

pelican wings flapping, frogs, and best of all voices thrills me.

Being able to talk to someone inside the car when we are driving is

amazing!

The goal with a CI is to HEAR better than prior to surgery. There

are three brands and all of them are EXCELLENT. In January I will be

getting Advanced Bionics Harmony 120 channels.....truly amazing!
