Hi, I have ADHD and Hepatitis C. I am taking ritalin for ADHD,

however, one of the possible side effects of ritalin is liver damage.

I am concerned and thinking about stopping the medication. Is there a

reason to be worried?

Hi - It seems like just about every medication is hard on your liver.

I would definitely discuss it with your physician. He/she should be

able to tell you how big the risk is and maybe there's an alternative

med you could take?

Any medication you take will affect your liver...thats your primary

detox system.

Have you tried some nutritional support?

Ritalin in an adult is different than in a child..it speeds you up versus

slows you down.

Fatigue and mental fog can both be helped without the use of this

drug, which will cause more harm than good in my opinion.

Do you have a history of alcohol or drug use?

Both of these can affect your digestive system in a way that would

keep your body from absorbing nutrients, thus contributing to an

inability to " focus " or concentrate.

Personally, I think ADHD is a bunch of " hooey " ...someone came up

with a way to label children who have higher metabolisms with a " disease "

in order to justify drugging them, so they can be easily controlled in

a classroom situation. And then found a way to make more money by

dragging the adult population into it...by establishing a " genetic " or

" pre-disposed " link.

check out newstarget.com...there is some very interesting reading

there this month with regard to ADHD, ADD..etc...

Stop giving yourself labels...it will only make you feel worse.

I have always believed it was bogus...

People with liver problems are at higher risk for mood issues

because of inadequate hormone conversion, and nutritional

problems that come with it.

Its all going to affect your chemistry somewhat...but there are

other ways to deal with it, ...dangerous medications are not the answer.
