I have seen the liquid oxygen (or whatever you call it) in health food

stores and such. I have looked into it a bit but it is costly. I have

always figured that the aerobic breathing technique in Lifelift is what

my body wants and needs. If you want to try it, then go right ahead.

Let us know what it's like :-).

Joan, after what I've been through gathering medical records to send to Dr.

, you better believe I am going to thoroughly research before I make a

trip out there!!

Well, we are in Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas.....guess Cincinatti is just

as far/close.....still a plane ride anyway!

Leah just IM'd me about Bonnie , how funny! The DS clinics down

here anyway, all they do is check for the health issues....nothing really has

been done for behavioral issues, other diagnoses combined with DS, things of

that nature. They DO know they exist, but not enough " bitching " about it to

start up a clinic for mental health issues! They ARE planning a clinic of

sorts for the older person with DS.....seems most places deal with children

and not adults......don't they know our children will soon be adults???? DUH!

Thanks for the info......I'm keeping notes....

Try to create a tangible list of the things you want from a clinic visit.

What kinds of evals do you want, what topics do you want to discuss, etc.

Joan.

This information is helpful. I am expecting a call from her. You actually

get her voice mail directly when you call the DS clinic there!

Lauri,

I cant' tell you how many times I have called there, both when I lived in

Cincinnati and since moving to Vegas. I ALWAYS find Dr. easier

to get a hold of than our regular pediatrician. In fact, that was one

major complaint I have with Ped's. I tell them up front, that I dont'

want to spend hours upon hours trying to get in contact with them. If Dr.

can answer/return calls so quickly, I'm sure they can too.I

very rarely call the Ped with an " emergeny " type problem (fewer than once

every one to 2 years!), but when I do, I dont' want to be waiting one or

two days to get them!

Dr. is great!

EAch physician/medical provider has a distinct personality when dealing

with parents/consumers. Dr. is very accessible. She is even more

knowledgeable. I think she expresses greater compassion for our struggles

as parents than most--though many have that compassion and don't express

it. Or, they have trouble saying things like, " I wish there was more I

could do...I wish I could help you, but I feel lost. " I would gather that's

what Dr. felt. He's a pretty nice guy, really.

Bonnie will talk straight talk to you. She'll tell you the pros and cons of

coming to see her. She'll tell you what she can and cannot do in the big

political world of hospitals. I found that so helpful, I just can't tell you.

,

I had my first conversation with her today. She was so helpful and very

kind. I actually set up an appointment for Gene to see her for an evaluation

when we are on our way to Florida for spring break. We just need to drive a

little further east than we usually do! It is exciting to me to know that at

last I will be bringing him to someone who has met kids like him before! I

think we are also going to be able to meet with the speech pathologist there

and also, maybe, the Dr. from the autism clinic as well. I am putting all

further meds on hold ( after the Adderal nightmare day ) until after we meet

with her the end of this month.

Lauri:

Thanks for the good report!! I'll keep my fingers crossed. You will like

Bonnie. One thing I was surprised by is that she's a little

short......(about 4 feet 4, I'd say). After years of over-bearing, tall

MEN, it was hard for me to adjust!

bonnie, a physical therapy designed stretch and strengthen program has

helped me. you have to work up gradually. then you ahve to keep doing the

stretches everyday at home to see a benefit. I was also a violinist in

addition to fibro/shoulder blades or whatever we ahve and it helped me .

physical therapy is usually paid by insurance including medicare. amy

Dear Bonnie,

Good for you - 42 lbs is wonderful. I like the points program but went off last winter when it took so long to find out that I had h-pylori ulcer. It was tough to follow the program because I couldn't eat fresh fruit or veggies and my attitude fell right off. You all are inspiring me to get to it again. Thanks for sharing good news.

Bonnie - is quite right - as I said in my first reply to you, doubling

time of white count and lymphocytes is an important measure - these would

likely be tied to increases in node size, as that is where these guys wind up -
