Guest guest
I went to my pre op appointment (ACDF) and the Dr said that because I have a narrow spinal column, he is planning on using plastic instead of cadaver bone. I didn't want to go the hip route because I have had bone taken from my hip before and that was worse than the surgery they did it for. Has anyone out there had plastic used in a cervical fusion? I understand it is somewhat experimental. He also recommended 3 or 4 days in a rehab facility after the hospital so that I could learn what I needed to do to get dressed, eat, get out of bed, etc.. Do you think this is overkill or a good idea? I have a dog, a 7 year old and my husband at home. Lastly, he gave me a bone growth stimulator to wear 4 hours a day for6 months after the surgery. Has anyone used this device and if so, what were the results? I have faith in my Dr so I understand all of this but I am still nervous!
