Guest guest
I don't know about emphysema or " lung damage " but KT has real promise in preventing or regressing cancer since it raises a person's pH. Guest guest
BTW, I believe they need to drink the tea to raise their pH. I think it would be amazing to solve their problems with just SCOBYs but I've read some amazing things. Hi Ann, Congratulations on your first finished batch! :-) The new Kombucha/baby culture always grows ABOVE the 'mother', closest to the surface of the liquid. > Is this fine, or should I separate the two now and > compost the mother? Leave them together to brew your next brew. I always brew with at least 2 scobys, but also plenty of starter liquid from the old brew. The greater bacterial presence makes for a better final flavour, I think. > Also, there were some dregs left in the bowl, > which I just left there when I added the new tea. I don't think it would matter this time. These dregs are mainly yeast deposits and are normally best discarded to avoid your Kombucha culture going out of balance in favour of the yeasts. Guest guest
I'd use a doubled or tripled zip lock freezer bag. --- Elina Emberton <e_emberton@...> wrote: > Does anybody kow how to bottle/pack a scoby with > liquid securely enough to survive air travel in a > suitcase? > > Re: scoby question > > In message <1D6AB4D6-431F- > 401D-8B57- F8FB34922163@ verizon.net> you wrote: > > > I've just bottled my first batch of KT, and I > found a baby scoby > > growing under the mother, but I just put the whole > thing onto the > > next batch. > > Hi Ann, > Congratulations on your first finished batch! :-) > > The new Kombucha/baby culture always grows ABOVE the > 'mother', > closest to the surface of the liquid. > > > Is this fine, or should I separate the two now and > > > compost the mother? > > Leave them together to brew your next brew. Guest guest
> Does anybody kow how to bottle/pack a scoby with liquid > securely enough to survive air travel in a suitcase? One way to do it is simply double-bag the scoby with very little tea (it's not going to dry out sealed up like that) and use a vinegar-acidified starter tea for the first batch at the other end.
