Guest guest
Pyle--I am planning on looking into that book. I have been on steroids for a majority of the past year and a half and I feel as if I am fighting an internal war. A war that most of us have faced--I am exhausted with moderately high blood pressure, asthma that worsems coming down off of them, blood sugar which is akin to a roller coaster plus the xolair makes me feel worse inside of buildings but better outside! A nurse told me my body is fighting things like old cat reactions (to which my rast result was 16,500--yes sixteen thousand) and does not have as much to fight out of doors which makes a lot of sense. I am going with the flow here and like all of you, it is my intention to win this internal battle. May each of you have a blessed holiday!!! When Xolair first started kicking in three years ago and I was coming off steroids after months of monthly or twice-monthly tapers, I had such a hard time that I went to my GP about it, fearing that I had early onset menopause. She did some blood work and urinalysis (for a number of things) and was able to determine that I did not have early onset menopause. Check with your GP. There's also a great book called " Coping with Prednisone " that was written by a doctor and her sister, who needed large quantities of pred for a chronic illness. Gives good suggestions for dealing with the evil candy and its side effects. Guest guest
Oh can I relate to this one! My thyroid bit the dust aout 7 years ago.The steroids send my thyroid levels soaring.(the highest was 52;normal is less than 4) Unlike diabetes, correcting a TSH isn't immediate, it takes about 6 wks. There is a website called the steroid warning network; everyone there has dealt with the side effects of the evil candy. They were a BIG help to me. I was in the hospital with half a lung looking like swiss cheese,(aspergillis destroyed it) and my O2 sats never dropped below 95%. I even had some RN's think I was faking the severity of my attacks;until they listened to my lungs! Xolair is worth every cent just to keep me off the evil candy. becki > > > > I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism and wonder if others also have an > > auto-immune issue.
