Guest guest
I have been reading a lot of posts that have post surgical suggestions. I won't be having my surgery until next year. I have been through the complicated surgery once already. I have the latest & greatest hardware. I have flatback because the rods weren't contoured enough in my lumbar area & my fusions failed. What is scaring me is that I am a single woman, alone with 2 dogs & will have minimal assistance after I get home. After my last surgery, I was completely on my own 10 days after surgery (5 days after getting home from the hospital). I will be having my revision, 300 miles away from home. I have 1 family member that will travel with me. After I get home, I have 2 family members that will check in on me probably once or twice a day, but they work full time. I know on the weekends they would be available to make sure I have groceries & my house is clean. I'm sure my nephew wouldn't mind mowing my lawn & maybe take my dogs for a walk. Other than that, I'll be flying solo. I've been reading how many of you took every precaution during your recovery to not do anything that might compromise your healing. I'm writing this with tears streaming down my face. I feel like I'm am doomed to have another failed surgery because I won't have enough assistance after I get home. I'm a do-it-yourselfer out of necessity, not out of preference. Is there anyone that has gone through revision alone? ........Kathy
