Guest guest
Read my MRI which I just posted. A disc that is dessicrated (sic) has no water in it. It is basically dried up and is painful. Just because there is no facture does not mean you have a healthy back. Most of my painful problems have nothing to do with fractures. I have multi-level disc problems with stenosis and other things. See a pain management Doctor if your back hurts. I am in sever pain 24.7 even with a 100 mcg Fentanyl patch and 30 mg of Roxicodone 4 times a day for b/t. Guest guest
most of my problems revolve around the fact that i was very active before i got hurt...mind you, i will be turning 20 in january. i was into dancing, offroading, camping, and enjoying time doing parades with my boyfriend's drum corps. i can't stand, walk or sit for very long. it's miserable being only 20 and not being able to do all of the things that mean so much. i don't want to make it like i'm making my situation sound worse than anyone elses, i just see people on here that are in their 30's, 40's and 50's, i just get so upset because i'm so young. Guest guest
Hi Marsha, Being only 47 and dealing with the cervical stenosis w/mylopothy and the fibro I have finally found a primary care who will listen to what I have to say and who works with the pain clinics recommendations it's been a god week!! Pain oxycontin cr 10mg x3 with oxycodone 5/325 for breakthrough pain, lyrica 75mg x3, baclofen for the spasms 10mg x 3,valium 5mg x3. all in combination have worked great after 7 surgeries in 19 months its been no fun but you have to walk and keep moving and the water therapy works great. Guest guest
Ouch Mark! You have my empathy there. I came in this group to ask about costs of fusions because my husband is planning a settlement based on the cost of a 4 level (would you mind sharing your costs with me if it's not too personal?) and I think I may be staying because I have a herniated disc, pinched nerves, and fibromyalgia too. Aint life funny sometimes? Darz > > Well as you can tell I'm in the same boat as you folks up at 3:30 in the > morning taking My meds to be able to start my day in 2 1/2 hours from now. Guest guest
Being young makes it difficult but it's hard at any age to give up who we used to be. I wasn't all that old when I got FM, and added some back injuries (bulging discs) to it. Now I've added the herniation in my back and my hubby's back probs and it just feels like there's no end in sight. My depression from the FM pain, tho, almost took me out, literally, with suicide. So I want to help you before you get to that point. There is a book by Kuhbler- Ross about grief and dieing. It discusses the stages of grief after we lose a loved one and we had to study it in nursing school. The similarities between someone who loses a family member or friend and someone who " loses " their " old self " are astonishing. For a long time, I didn't realize I was grieving for the me I used to be. After I figured that out I was able to get on with some emotional healing. I'm sure it's not much different whether the pain is from a back injury or FM, the emotions are hard to handle. Talk to someone, try to find spirit lifting things in your life. Figure new ways to do old favorite things. Hubby and I have had to go to a camper with heat/ac and a bed when I used to take a blanket and fishing pole and that was it. And there has to be a box dedicated to meds with us. But we still get to go camping. I'm not sure what can be done to make the drum corps any easier but give it some thought. Get creative and see what you come up with. Do something to head off the depression your grieving is bringing on. It only makes it worse. My shoulder is here if you need it ok?
