Guest guest
A Teacher Puts Students At Risk Deb Farris School Health Scare September 19 - A science teacher at Salina South High School is suspended for putting students' health at risk. During an anatomy class on Monday, the teacher used the same pin to draw blood from 50 different students. One student says when she asked the teacher if that was safe, the teacher apparently said she didn't have enough pins for everybody and there wasn't a risk. When school officials found out about what happened, the teacher was suspended. Saline County health officials say while the risk is minimal; the students could have been exposed to hepatitis or HIV. Letters have been sent home to parents of the affected students, telling them to contact their personal physician. The district is also working with the health department to set up testing to make sure the students were not exposed to any kinds of diseases. The first tests will happen in the next week, a second set will be performed in 6 weeks, followed by final tests in 6 months. The teacher involved in the incident is not being identified. This is her first year at Salina South, but it is not her first teaching position. http://www.kake.com/news/headlines/3958526.html
