Hi Venizia,

I am taking 10,000 IU of Vitamin D every other day. Plus, I am taking the raw

adrenal from the health food store. I take my armour 2 times per day

sublingually, (2 grains) and now that you mentioned it, I am going to start on

the brazille nuts too. I read that they are very powerful for selenium.

Other than that, I do take a multi, but not everyday. It is a whole food one.

I was juicing carrot juice religiously for about 2 weeks, and now getting back

into it again.

I am also doing a homeopathic detox too, but i have been doing that for over a

year now. It does seem to help a lot.

Hugs,

venizia1948 <nelsonck@...> wrote:

Oops, sorry! Yes the multi had iodine.

What are you doing that you are feeling better? I know you talked

about it but at the moment, I'm having brain fog.

He also told me to eat two Brazil nuts to get the selenium. I asked

him about it reducing antibodies and this is what he suggested.

Thanks for this feedback Venizia. Did you mean that the multi vitamin had iron

in it or iodine? I do take a multi with iron in it as well.

I am so glad that you found a good doc!! horray!! That is great news, and

thanks for sharing with us.

That's funny, I do seem to have low blood pressure, but I don't think it is in

the 90's.

I am really feeling so much better...but am still struggling with the weight

Just met with my new doctor today. I brought up the fact that this is

a big discussion on our list. He said iodine is definately not good

was taking a multiple vitamin that had iron. She couldn't figure out

why she felt so bad until she brought up that fact that she was taking

Wasn't there someone on the list that has hashi's and tried iodine and

said they didn't do well on it. I am going back into the posts and

see if I can find that. Or if you are that person maybe you could

elaborate for us.

By the way, I am very happy with my new doctor today. He is

definitely up on what works for us. He treats naturally (I know some

of you do not feel there is anything natural about Armour) Anyway, he

took is time with me. Is doing my Ft3 and 4 and Ferritin. As for

adrenals he said that if I had an adrenal problem, my BP would be low

like in the 90's and it was 126/65 so.....I may still bring it up

again depending on what he finds out from the blood tests. Once they

are in we will discuss things further.

Low TSH causes osteoporosis, eh? Let's see, I had bone severe loss

from synthroid and from being severely hypOthyroid, and my TSH was no

where near supressed. On Armour, dosed by symptoms, and with such a

little TSH that it would probably scare Chuck and to pieces, I

have excellent bone density - aka bones of steel...at least according

to the bone density testing I have had. Yea, and according to all the

wild fun I have, too.

IMO this means that the other supportive organs also decline---low sex

homrones and low adrenals.

Gracia

Does this mean that the thyroid can start working

again, even after taking thyroid meds for years? I was

under the impression that the thyroid " forgets " how to

work after one starts taking medication.

hi Venezia

I am glad you are happy with your new doc but he is not right about iodine and

hashis. that is conventional thinking and what docs are taught, but it is not

correct. I only wish I had been given iodine/iodide as a child--it would have

you can read excerpts from his books there. He has a book on iodine and one

on salt " Salt your way to health " I think it is.

Okay, I did look at it and there are lots of things

that you can buy. I read some testimonials, on PMS,

it's not really funny, it's true. your posts are a mishmash of allopathy

and maybe 10% holistic lite.

but you will learn b/c you will have to.

LOL

Re: Re: Low Iron and Hypothyroidism

IMO you do not know enough about how to use Armour and other hormones.

Gracia

and I agree with that- my only concern is for the patients who have just

started armour and have NOT reached their optimal dose! they are the ones

at the most risk or the ones with unique genetics that may not improve on

armour and we providers would be practicing MALPRACTICE if we did not worry

about that.

hi

I am 59 uh oh soon to be 60. I have all my female parts but almost died at

menopause age 51.

I had been taking 5mg estradiol, 250mg progesterone, 20mg testosterone per

day. (compounded)

Actually all women benefit from progesterone whether they have a uterus or not

(that is the more holistic thinking).

iodine sensitizes hormone receptors and there are many stories aobut this on

iodine list. also look at http://www.breastcancerchoices.org

but too bad for me! i woke up today with a nasty headache and hip pain,

which went away when i took more E.

actually I think iodine affects the need for P rather than E. I have been

out of P for week now--I will go pick up my P today.

my compounding pharmacist was named pharmacist of the year in Maine. she is

very helpful and I can pick her brain for info. she has no prob with my doses

luckily.

gracia

do you have the book Hormone Solutions? this book helped me figure out

doses. also http://womensinternational.org

Yep, those hormones will do the trick! Lucky for you huh?

BTW, I saw the post where you increased the estrogen to 1 mg twice a day and

stopped the progestreone - posted just a few days ago. The amount of

estrogen you are using is no small amount. You never needed the

progesterone to begin with if you are minus your uterus and menopausal.

Sadly you cannot prove that the iodine is the reason for anyting. Every

woman, as she uses HT and ages has changes in her plateau's/needs for the

drugs. This means every woman, Gracia, not just hypo women.

Dusty

Re: Re: Low Iron and Hypothyroidism

1) Armour has calcitonen in it, which " fixes " calcium to bone.

2) hormones are wonderful, but I have had to seriously decrease the estrogen

and progesterone, b/c of iodine and how it affects hormone receptors.

everything all together has made my teeth bigger! and harder!

hmmmm that could be a comercial for something.

Gracia

You also are using bio identical sex hormones, which have made your bones

and teeth twice as strong as they used to be. No secret about their

ability to do that. Funny you don't mention it here.

Here it comes again, that misrepresentation of the wonders of ONLY YOUR

drugs with perfect numbers according to where YOU DESIRE those numbers to be

and not any medical standard.

I don't really have the desire to " convince " ppl. Hopefully Shomon will

do that soon. also you might want to read Brownstein MD's new edition of

his book on Iodine why you need it why you can't live without it.

Gracia

Gracia,

I can understand where you are coming from and I understand that if it

works for people fine but my new doctor is not the typical,

conventional doctor you are taking about. This is why I chose to go

to him. He is into Broda and the others and he still says for

Hashi's don't do it. He is known for treating thyroid by " natural "

methods. Until someone with Hashi's can show me proof that it is

doing wonders for them, I will stick with what my doctor has to say,

for now. I do appreciate your comments and I feel you are very

genuine in your beliefs so I suggest you keep the info coming and

maybe someday you will convince me. Thanks for your concern.

THis is more dangerous blather. Only a true charlatan would address such

every day mundane problems as headache and a sore hip with such dangerous

drugs. These comments show the depth of your addiction or the depth of your

brainwashing.

Here it comes again, that misrepresentation of the wonders of ONLY YOUR

drugs with perfect numbers according to where YOU DESIRE those numbers to be

and not any medical standard.

good lord.....what on earth is wrong with you? headache and sore hip are

not mundane probs for me--I usually feel good everyday. do you think I am

addicted to estrogen? can I ask you to refrain from attacking me personally?

I would appreciate it.

I'm not attacking you personally..... I'm attacking the belief system about

your kind of medicating that is so wildly absurd and dangerous in exactly

the way you do conventional medicine. A headache and a sore hip will go

away in minutes to a few hours - adding something as dangerous as estrogen

to treat them is absolutely ludicrous. Posting such nonsense is proof that

you wish to continue stir the pot.

that 's right I practice BOTH allopathic and natural medicine and I CARE about

my patients and THUS WANT to DO NO HARM to them, I DON'T PRACTICE FRINGE

MEDICINE.

NANCIE

Re: Re: Low Iron and Hypothyroidism

IMO you do not know enough about how to use Armour and other hormones.

Gracia

and I agree with that- my only concern is for the patients who have just

started armour and have NOT reached their optimal dose! they are the ones

at the most risk or the ones with unique genetics that may not improve on

armour and we providers would be practicing MALPRACTICE if we did not worry

about that.

and I am not advocating that you do- your dose is optimal, a person who is just

starting armour and hasn't reached their optimal dose- who either can't take

adrenal meds or iodine can be at risk for AFIB and osteo. look at roni- she was

experiencing afib and her dose is not optimal yet!!!!!!

what do you want to me to do for that small grp of patients, ignore their

symptoms, especialy the cardiac with directions to ignore it- it will go away-

and what happens if a few of them have a stroke or heart attack caused by the

afib which I told them not to worry about?!! what would you do, gracia??

Re: Re: Low Iron and Hypothyroidism

my TSH is .3 but my frees are perfect. I would not change my Armour dose based

on TSH.

Gracia

Well are there any instances in which a tsh <0.5 is okay? I thought it was

<0.1.

hypothyroidism

Subject: Re: Low Iron and Hypothyroidism

Hi Dusty,

I am not posting this to defend Gracia, like everyone here she speaks

for herself. But I would like to relate a story.

About a two years ago my wife, mid 40's, started having a LOT of hip

pain, so bad some days her eyes looked glazed and she cried. It got so

bad so went to our HMO doctor and they X-rayed it. They told her she

had the beginnings of osteoartritis. They told her there was nothing

they really could do, but prescribed some huge pain relivers tablets,

something like Tylenol with Codine (you get the idea). The pain

actually got so bad she bought a cane to walk around a work.

Around that time I also started having some problems too and was doing

a lot of reading and I tested her blood as well when I did mine. What

I found was she was EXTREMELY deficient in Vitamin D, and her female

hormones were just about ZERO. Her testosterone level was the only

normal level, some of this hormone is made by a females adrenal

glands. She was essentially menopausal despite having a monthly cycle

and only being in her mid 40's.

She paid out of pocket to go to an anti-aging doctor and very long

story short...he got her on some progesterone caplets and estrogen

gel. I also have been giving her vitmain D3 oil based gels and

restored her D3 levels to normal. All of her hormones are now " tuned-up " .

We guess what...the osteoartritis is GONE! Not just better, but 100% gone!

The cane just sits in the back of her car, never gets used.

I am not sure if it was the vitamin D or the restoration of her

hormones, we are not about to run a " study " ;-/ to find out which

hormone (or prohormone like the vitamin D) is responsible, but she is

off the Tylenol and feeling fantastic.

Hormones are the Mother root of which many deeper issues are made.

you don't know enough about using cortef and iodine, which of course everyone

can take. and then there are the sex hormones.

One of my best docs, a Broda doc, had me do 24 hr urine test for 32

different things from http://www.antibodyassay.com --cost about $350. He spent

2 hours talking to me as well. first thing he said was " tell me everything.

don't think that something is unimportant. " He listened, used his experience

plus test results. I needed cortef, Armour, sex hormones.

good medical care isn't very often about one hormone by itself.

your lack of medical knowledge is showing garcia BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE can take

iodine. people who are allergic to any form of iodine can not take it because

they can get an severe allergic reaction that could kill them! I know because I

am one of them.

one of my docs, prudence hall who has extensive training in natural medicine as

well as allopathic medicine concurs about this. she also knows that NOT all

people can be on hormone replacement therapy, take lupus patients- it is

contraindicated for people who have lupus/sle to take any hormone replacement

because they will flare the disease process, just like people who have breast

cancer and uterine cancer- you NEVER give them hormone replacement because the

hormones drive the cancer.

women who are not in menopause and kids CAN NOT take sex hormone replacement

therapy! otherwise you are giving them something that can trigger cancer and

other diseases.

I never said good medical care was about using monotherapy. DO NOT PUT WORDS

INTO MY MOUTH.

I was speaking about armour specifically.

like I have said what works for you is great- but it may not work for every

other person in the universe.

I am very happy that what you take helps you- I just can't understand why you

can't accept that not everyone is like you. even sam, takes more armour than you

do- because she needs it. if you feel that we are all the same [gggg] then why

don't you take 11 grains of armour?

yes, menopause sucks. I know because I have premature menopause from the effects

of chemo. women [ who don't have estrogen driven diseases, that is ] do not

realize how wonderful that hormone is. it is also responsible for metabolism.

that is one major reason many women who are in menopause and do not have hypo T;

gain weight.
