I usually just down a couple tbsps (liquid) real fast before eating

something else.

Coconut oil has a very low melting point, it's not far from a warmish room

temperature (around 75-80F). In even slightly warm places it will stay in

a liquid state all the time, (although like all lipids, you want to avoid

warming it since that might hasten its breakdown). So storing it in its

gel state is perfectly fine.

You can scoop out a couple tbsp into a glass dish and sit it in the

sunlight for a few minutes, it should liquify.

Not by much. I've never had a jar explode or leak when changing from one

state to the other.

Hello ,

If you purchased your oil on a hot day it would have been a clear

liquid. If it is exposed to temperatures above 76 degrees (F) for any

length of time, coconut oil will liquefy. If stored below 76 degrees

(F) coconut oil will begin to solidify.

I have found that the measurement is the same, liquid or solid. When

my coconut oil is liquid I have some little 2 tablespoon containers

that I pour it into that I harden and store in the fridge for easy

use in Bee's egg drink. So I know the measurement is the same by

personal experience.

Personally I do not enjoy the taste of coconut oil right off the

spoon, so I use it in Bee's tasty Egg drink or mix it into hot foods

or tea and I have no problem getting in my quota of 5 to 6 T per day.

Hey S. and Debra-----thanks so much for your input. I really needed to

understand it from someone's perspective of how they take it on a daily

basis. I really did okay when it was liquid and it was so much easier

to swallow. I guess I will just drop some in tea or soup or even a

stir fry.....seems like then I will be able to up it to the recommended

5 tbsp.~

Hi ,

If you like CO in it's liquid state and your house is too cool to keep

it that way, you can put your jar of CO on the stove near a pilot

light to keep it warm (and liquid). That's what our moderator, Zack

likes to do....and definitely use it when you cook!

personally I prefer it in it's solid state. We all have our

preferences, huh? :o)

==>, coconut oil keeps for 2 years on the counter or in the

cupboard. Zack, our moderator, keeps a smaller jar of it over the

pilot light on his stove so it stays liquid. When mine get lumpy I put

the jar in a bowl of hot water and it melts very quickly.

During work I picked up scrambled eggs and drank a swig of the coconut oil.

Later in the day I finished the rest. I was amazed at the " pure energy " I had.

(like a plesant high without the jitters). I went from 5:00 am to 2:30 am

without being tired or hungry. Needless to say it reinforced in me the value of

the coconut oil.

----->I have to admit I am not fond of coconut oil but there are a lot of

things I am taking " down the hatch " for improved health. I have to brace myself

for the cod liver oil. I usually have home made kim chi standing by to chase the

nasty taste away.

add quite a bit of coconut oil to. You can search the messages for some good

ideas.

One I liked best is not in the archive anymore but I liked it so well I saved

it.

The egg drink is delicious, and you aren't even going

to be able to tell that it has raw eggs in it. I was

You can use very strong tea instead of ordinary water.

Chai and mint are two of my favorites. Chai makes it

taste like egg nog. Jasmine tea gives it a fresh,

clean taste. Experiment and see what you like. Clove

and ginger tea is also a good mix, and you get the

healing benefits of the clove and ginger.

I hate to admit this, but I sometimes put a spoon of

decaffinated instant coffee in. I really love the

coffee flavor, but I gave up drinking the real thing

quite a while ago. Every once in a while, I like to

experience the flavor again.

Oh, good idea!!! I really like just swallowing the liquid but I am

going to attempt putting it in hot foods. One more question, can I

cook with it the same way I would olive oil?

==>Definitely you can use coconut oil for cooking. It is the most

ideal cooking oil! It is much better than olive oil. I mix it with

butter for additional flavour. After I cook meats and veggies I pour

all of fats over my foods - nothing is wasted and it is a way to

increase fats intake. Lard is another good fat to use for cooking. I

was able to buy 7 pounds of pure lard (right from the pig) for only

$6.00 at the Farmer's Market. I'm going to melt it and put it in glass

jars - it is not kept in the fridge either, just like coconut oil.
