Guest guest
Do you think you might want to have your vitamin and mineral levels checked??? This is just my opinion, but I think any restricted diet has the potential to starve the heart in the long run especially if you have an underlying heart disorder. I honestl think if one just gives up refined sugar, desserts, most fruit, etc. which are the predominant yeast triggers, that's enough. mrsossitta <mrsossitta@...> wrote: Hello to all: Last night I got to spent the night in the Emergency Room, courtesy of my heart which, suddenly started to beat so erratically that I thought I was having a heart attack. I was pretty scared and turns out I have some heart rhythm electrical problem (I will know more on Tuesday after seeing the cardiologist). I have had some similar problems in the past and the very first time I experienced something like this was about six years ago when I decided to follow the Atkins diet and again about three years ago when I followed the Atkins diet again. To make a long story short, I am now on the Candida diet which I find is very similar to the Atkins one. I am worried that there is something in the diet that triggers these heart problems. Why would I be having these problems again now? I feel better now that I am following the Candida plan because all of the problems I had with dizziness, memory lapses, mood swings, etc. are greatly reduced but the heart problem has come back where I am now forced to have to go back on my medication for palpitations. Guest guest
Jeanette, I wish you a total and complete recovery. Maybe you should include some whole grain in your diet. I'm also watching my diet very carefully, but I do eat some carbs, and my diet is not nearly as restrictive as Atkins, and I feel that I'm better, overall and in regards to Candida symptoms. My understanding is that quinoa, buckwheat, and spelt are relatively friendly grains. I regularly prepare quinoa and buckwheat the same way I would rice. I eat spelt matza crackers. When I eat grains and actually before all meals, I try to be sure to take grapefruit seed extract before hand ( 6 drops in a glass of water, and then I refill the glass with more water to get out the remainder of the extract). After I eat them, I try to remember to take a acidophilus/positive flora pill. I use the Jarro variety. I don't eat grains every day, but my roommate who also has Candida, does eat them every day, and she is also much better, overall and with respect to Candida. She also eats oat meal. She normally has grains for breakfast, but I don't think the time of day really matters. If your candida symptoms involve chronic constipation, you may also want to consider taking digestive enzymes, along with acidophilus and antifungals. Also, Iodine deficiency can be a cause of heart palpitations. I don't know if that's the cause in your case, but you may want to consider trying a tablet that provides the day's requirements for Iodine. (Year's ago, an eye doctor, starting asking me all kinds of questions that had nothing to do with my eyes. It really surprized me, but all of the answers were yes, including heart palpitations. He was concerned that I might have a problem with my thyroid. I started taking a seaweed supplement from Vitalia which provides my day's requirements for Iodine. When I forget to take it regularly and get heart palpitations, it makes mine go away. (The English spelling of Vitalia may be slightly different because the writing on my bottle is in Hebrew, but the manufacturer is in New York. My guess is that any brand will work the same. I don't have contact info for Vitalia in the States, but the Israeli importer can be reached at +972-3-634-3222) May G-d bless you with health and happiness, >From: " mrsossitta " <mrsossitta@...> >Reply-candidiasis >candidiasis >Subject: This is serious - I'm scared >Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2006 02:38:29 -0000 > >Hello to all: >Last night I got to spent the night in the Emergency Room, courtesy of >my heart which, suddenly started to beat so erratically that I thought >I was having a heart attack. Guest guest
Jeanette, Just a thought. Just like lack of Iodine can cause heart palpitations, maybe lack of other essential minerals or vitamins can also cause them. I have no concrete information on this subject, but it might be worth looking into. All of the best, (Originally from Chicago. Guest guest
Thank you for sharing. Some of the die off symptoms- like our racing hearts- can be pretty scary. It is comforting to know that this is not unusual, and that it is a part of the healing process. I am grateful to Bee for putting this site together, and thankful that people are willing and able to share, the good and the bad, of conquering this menace. http://kelleygate.blogspot.com/ > One thing I can share with you is that when I was having the worst of my candida problems, my heart was racing out of control 24/7, and it scared me terribly. In addition to the racing heart, I had a tremendous amount of free-floating anxiety, which seemed to make my heart even worse. ....other things that feed candida. > I offer this just as my experience...if you truly do have a heart problem, you should definitely see your doc, but if it is in conjunction with candida die-off, you might just try to wait it out. > Good luck - maryjo
Guest guest
Since this isn't Bee's list I'm free to point out that racing hearts may not be due to " die-off " or " healing reactions " , which seem to be the catch-all reason on that list for any unwanted symptoms. These symptoms and racing heart can also be caused by malnutrition including low glutathione and low selenium; magnesium deficiency causes rapid heart rate and potassium deficiency causes weak or irregular heart rate for example. http://tinyurl.com/ye6ck3 A lot of people who do not follow Bee's advice to the letter find die off is markedly reduced by attending to more deficiencies, using supplements. Guest guest
I am terribly sorry for my mistake in thinking this was Bee's group. I do appreciate this group as well, and thank Sandy for inviting me to it. The input is extremely helpful. I will look into the deficiencies you suggested, as I do still get an erratic heart beat some times, and was told it was just a die off symptom. Thank you~ http://kelleygate.blogspot.com/ > > > > This is not Bee's list. > > > > Keen > > > > Re: This is serious - I'm scared > > > > Thank you for sharing. Guest guest
I really owe you a thanks for the following information. My heart was pounding and palpitating for several days and getting worse by the hour. After you sent this I went down to the natural food store to get selenium and magnesium (couldn't find potassium, but ordered some online). Within literally five minutes of taking the selenium and magnesium my heart calmed down. I have been taking it, with Vit C, E, A, Cod fish oil, Vit B and I feel like a new person. The ringing in my ears went away, my heart acts normal, and I have slept through two nights peacefully, a rarity lately... Thank you again. http://kelleygate.blogspot.com/ > These symptoms and racing heart can also be caused by malnutrition > including low glutathione and low selenium; magnesium deficiency > causes rapid heart rate and potassium deficiency causes weak or > irregular heart rate for example. > http://tinyurl.com/ye6ck3
Guest guest
Are you ingesting lots of Aspartame? If you are, check out www.dorway.com. There's lots of other sites informing people of the dangers of Aspartame. I know all about it because I was a victim of Aspartame poisoning and I firmly belive that the Atkins Diet played a major roll in that happening. I too had rapid heart rate among the many other symptoms and only when I got Aspartame and MSG out of my system did that stop and so did all of the other symptoms. I also know that the Candida problem I now have is because of Aspartame the poisoning. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I'm delighted that the minerals helped; it's one more duck in a row. When you take potassium (chloride or citrate?) you might only get 99mg pills, about 1/10 of a gram, which means you might use 10-20 of them daily. You could also use cheaper " No-Salt " or some such low-sodium salt from the supermarket and use it to salt your food. Duncan > > I really owe you a thanks for the following information.
