Guest guest
Has anyone heard of a yeast infection that isn't Candida?? I got a stool test from Great Smokies. I paid for it myself, expensive, but then I have been feeling lousy and can't find the reason. Anyway, it came back as positive for yeast infection 'not Candida'?? I had a bit of the runs though so thought I would pospone test but then thought oh well maybe it is the time to test. So could be just something in some food I was eating, I've been having lots of sprouts for example. I just hadn't heard of it before. I did find this link regarding 'yeast and yeast-like fungi', " Saccharomyces, Cryptococcus and Candida albicans " . http://helios.bto.ed.ac.uk/bto/microbes/yeast.htm I can't tell on the page though which are the yeasts and which is the 'yeast-like' fungi. Is Candida actually a 'yeast-like fungi' instead of a true yeast. Reason I ask is because I saw Candida listed as most common form of fungal infection, listing aspergillus as second, so that is making me think it is a fungi, not a yeast. I have been confused on this issue a lot as so many people say they have a yeast infection when referring to Candida, but then reading Candida listed as a fungal infection. If so that means at least at the time of the test I had Saccharomyces or Cryptococcus. If I don't feel better by other measures I plan to retake the test perhaps this fall since it may have been something I ate rather than something I'm infected with. Thanks. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi there Candida starts out as a yeast, but when it gets out of control it morphs into a fungus.
