Guest guest
Hi I had a nice long call with Barbara, s sister. was out of the ICU unit yesterday. It was looking like they were not going to be able to find space for her on the floors but at the last minute they did. Unfortunately it was a double room and though Barbara had planned to bunk in with this became problematic with the night shift nurses. They finally worked out a way to use cell phones to tag team if necessary and Barb stayed down in the solarium. I guess they got her into a private room today so tonight will hopefully go smoother. It is no news flash to those that have been there that the last 48 hours have been pretty awful for . She did sit up today for a few minutes but got light headed and layed back down. She is running a slight temp, which I believe is not uncommon at this stage...Barb said they were going to give her another unit of blood and they were hoping that would bring her blood pressure up a bit and perk her up in general. As said, Dr Rand is pleased with how her surger went and how her back is looking now. Barbara said even sitting you can tell how straight and tall will be. Barb thought the pain control protocol was working as well as could be expected. She is a nurse, and in her words " spine patients and pain control are difficult " .... I say " amen " . None-the-less I am guessing she will be feeling 100 times better a couple days from now. I will try to touch bases with Barb or tomorrow or the day after, and I will let you know what I hear.
