The lining of the bladder gets ruined, somehow, and causes pain , spasms, and the constant feeling of having to go to the bathroom. Hope your Mother doesn't have it. That is why I LOVE Pred., because it helped my bladder and I can eat everything again. (and too much of it) They don't know the cause of I.C. , people seem to get it from different reasons, but they think autoimmune has something to do with it. www.ichelp.org explains it.
