Guest guest
Hi all, A special shout out to Francine! Hope you are doing well Hun! And Titch - thanks for posting my Hubby's very short update on here for me ;o) I'll have to keep this shortish, but the surgery went really well, I came home Thursday eve 16th. My surgeon removed all of my old hardware (HR and wires) and I am now the proud new owner of 2 rods, 7 pedicle screws, 1 hook and 2 claws (nothing compared to many of you guys on here) weird thing is my old fusion was T2 to L2 and now my new hardware only goes from T3 to L1??? My surgery certainly was a challenge, my surgeons estimate for surgery was a rather conservative 4hrs, I told Hubby and Mum (who came with me and waited) no way was it going to be that short, expect it to be about 6hrs, in the end I was in it took 8hrs, hence Hubby was in a complete state of panic and Mum was really worried too. Spent overnight in HDU, then once on the main ward I had a major prob with Morphine, it made me very very sick, so had Fentenyl on PCA instead but took 48hrs to get my pain under control, they were a really BAD 48hrs, but I'm ok now have Fentenyl Patches and Oxynorm, got my brace which is kinda cool in urban combat style (I chose it ) ) I am over the moon with my shape and posture!!! I have gained 2 inches in height, and due to a osteotomy at around level T11 ish they straightened out my lower curve, I have the best and straightest figure I have had since beore I found out I had Scoli, my Mum almost cryed the first time she saw me up and walking. And I have lost some of my 'baby-pooch' LOL Now trying to take things easy at home but its difficult watching everyone do stuff for me that I feel like I should be able to do myself! Hope eveyone is doing ok, I will try and get on here when I can and update. Best wishes to all, Kat x
