Guest guest
--Dear Vonnie and Friends, Again, sorry it has taken sooo long for me to respond!!! I still have not gotten my laptop fixed!!! I must jockey for computer time!!! I have tired to go over the posts from the last few months...WOW, you all have been very busy!! Sharon..you did it!! I hope you are having a great recovery!!! Well, in just a few short weeks I will be celebrating 10 months post op from my revision surgery with Dr.Rand. It was one year ago yesterday, Nov 10th , that I met with him in Boston for the first time to discuss my options. I believe I am doing well....I do still take one tramadol a day..I did try several times to go without it but I just feel better if I start my day with one. Maybe it is in my head but that is ok too!!! I think my flexability is much improved over the last few months..I can actually get in and out of the bath tub with no help at all!!! I have become a pro at deep knee bends if I am trying to get something off of the floor..I can also take my foot and kick pants, socks or most anything from the floor onto the bed to grab at a more reasonable reach. I can spend hours at football games sitting on very cold benches without much pain. I can walk for hours in the Mall...my daughter can vouch for me on this one!!! I can take wash from the washer and put it in the dryer. I graduated from my grabber to get it from the dryer..I get on my knees and reach in and take it out of the dryer. I must still say that at the end of a work day, I do like to come home and lay down for a few minutes to rest my lower back/lordosis area..it just feels better if I do that. I am still wearing the bone growth stimulator for 4 hours a day. I assume at this point if I call Rand he would tell me I could probably stop with that. I just have not phoned his office to ask, maybe i'll do that this week!! I have become somewhat attached to the darn thing..as most of you know at the start I was hating it!!! ANd last but not least..I CAN PICK UP THE POUND OF LUNCH MEAT THAT I DROPPED ON THE FLOOR ALL BY MYSELF!!!! Now that is progress in my book!!!! WIshing all of you speedy recoveries and those who are exploring revision... the ability to make a decision that bests suits YOU!!!! Guest guest
it is so great to read about how well you are doing! I especially laughed at the last part -- hubby and I are always talking about " the ham on the floor " phenomenon. Recently, I got home from work to find a case of Dr Pepper on the front porch by the door. Hubby had set it down to open the door, and never went back for it. Neither one of the kids even noticed it when they got home from school. > > > ANd last but not least..I CAN PICK UP THE POUND OF LUNCH MEAT THAT I > DROPPED ON THE FLOOR ALL BY MYSELF!!!! Guest guest
---It is so funny how kids just can walk by something and not think about it...maybe when they grow up and get their own homes and responsibilities it will change!!! ,PA In , " SB " <bahadreama@...> wrote: > > it is so great to read about how well you are doing! Guest guest
Pa, I am so glad you have the strength to now wrestle your kids away from the computer. I will predict that in the next few months you will be amazed to see how much more you will be able to do. I think that 8-12 month period was when I saw the most in terms of getting back to " myself " ...since then, it has mostly slowed down and is more the very slow ability that comes from strength. Lets talk when you get close to arranging your 1 year check...that will coincide with my 2 year anniversary when I need to get up there too. Perhaps we can arrange another dinner for all the Beantown members? And I am elated to hear the " matter of the ham " is resolved! Guest guest
Hi Pa, Long time since I heard from you, glad to hear you are doing well and now can bend for that ham..lol That was a funny one I'll never forget. In my house my son will walk by things that I drop on the floor and say to me I thought you wanted it there. There all the same,kids...Well I go back to see Dr.Rand on thursday to see if the broken rods have moved any since last month. But I think I broke another cause I was in that same pain again last weekend..I don't know what's going on with me but I am still having problems.Still hurting but not the bad hurt I had before the operations..Water therapy does help me some.Well I'm in work and have to get some work done so I'll continue this later. Nice hearing from you and I'll let you all know what Dr. Rand said on thursday..Vonnie - -- In , " heatherbenjaminnicholas " <heatherbenjaminnicholas@...> wrote: > > --Dear Vonnie and Friends, > Again, sorry it has taken sooo long for me to respond!!!
