Guest guest
Dear Kam, Wow, your X-Rays are very interesting. Crooked with us is a relative term, I know my lumbar correction could have been greater if not for osteoporosis, so maybe there's a reason for the crooked appearance of your cage. I'd be interested in what your doc has to say. All the hooks you have in your upper spine, is that your old Harrington rod, so many of us here have varying hardware from the old days, and many Harrington's seem to have way more hooks than mine did, I only had two, maybe why mine cut out only about ten years after surgery. I find this all facinating, even revised we all look so different. I think it's more function than appearances, and if it's good, who cares what it looks like. I know mine isn't so pretty, but it works, and I function, so I'm happy. I'll be here, funeral arrangements were made for my Grandmother to where it was impossible for us here in Colorado to go, a big mess, and hurtful. I sent lovely flowers yesterday, all I could do. Family can be a joy or a pain, and I have to get over their short comings and mourn her here with my little family. Lesson learned, though painful. I'm glad despite all the hardware and surgical pain that you are doing so terrific, you deserve a great outcome. Isn't it great to have it all behind you! Guest guest
Hi Kam... I hope you can eventually get a picture of your lateral xray. I'd love to see it. -- > > Just uploaded a photo of my x-rays with the cages. Guest guest
Hi Kam, I've thought that about my own cages at times, but it seems it looks that way to me because of a slightly different angle of the x-ray. The doctors have always said nothing has changed or moved. Then the the next x-ray shows the cage back to its "normal " position. So I do believe them that it never moved in the first place. Guest guest
Kam, I can't find your latest photo. Maybe you could post a direct link to it? Guest guest
Hi Sharon... I used to find it very difficult to find photos as well, until I discovered that you can sort all the photos by recency. If you click on the blue " List " link, you'll see that the most recent photos and folders come to the top. But, in case you still can't find it, here's a link: http://health.ph./group/ /photos/view/a40e?b=1 & o=\ 2 Regards, > > Kam, I can't find your latest photo. Guest guest
Never mind, Kam. I found it. I didn't expect the most recent pic to be at the beginning. Yes, it looks crooked, but it also appears to be following the contour of your vertebrae, so I don't imagine it's something the doctor can change. If it works, that's the important thing. Guest guest
As soon as the film is developed, I'll scan one (provided the photos turn out). I'd like to look at it again as well! > > Hi Kam... > > I hope you can eventually get a picture of your lateral xray. Guest guest
, The hooks and rod at the top are what I believe Dr. Bridwell and Dr. LaGrone both called a compression rod (but I don't have any reports in front of me). It and the very short rod I have in my lumbar spine are threaded and it is my understanding that this is the reason they are so difficult to remove. The bone has grown in to the threads. I always thought they were Harrington rods as well, but maybe not. It is my understanding that the hooks, however, are Bobechko (like I had on each end of my long Harrington). As for the crooked cage, it could be that my spine is just that curved at that level, but I also noted at my last visit that Dr. B said they did a pretty significant decompression on the left, so that could be why the cage 'fills in' more on the left. I think that the decompression is definitely why that side is so much more sensitive. I guess I have a lot more healing to do on the left than the right. The rainy weather has me pretty achy, but nothing like pre-surgery pain and as Dr. B's current Fellow put it, I am " only six weeks post- op. " I translated this to mean, " Quit your bitchin'. You need to heal. " I am sorry the arrangements didn't turn out in a way you could attend, but I know you will make the most of it and pay tribute to your beloved grandmother in a very special way. Take care of you! kam
