Guest guest
Lynn: I was started back on 30mg prednisone on June 119th and now I.m down to 10mg but I again started losing my hair. Thin on top and on the sides. I had me hair cut last week and the girl said My you are very thin on top and on the sides. I told thanks for telling me but my medicine is doing it to me. But she didn's say anything else because I think I made her think she was going to get something from me. Sue AIH Wisconsin
Guest guest
I started losing my hair at 19 years old, I still have it, but it is very thin, and I am a bit self conscious about it. Was wondering if it was realated to AIH somehow. My daughter has it too, but the other 2 don't. They did tests and couldn't find anything and said it must be genetic. The only thing is there was never in baldness in the women on either side of our family. Thanks Sue, Lynn AIH Roselle50@... wrote: > From: Roselle50@... > > Lynn: > > I was started back on 30mg prednisone on June 119th and now I.m down to 10mg > but I again started losing my hair. Guest guest
Unfortunately hair loss is one of the side effects of AIH. I found this written as a side effect in a medical journal I was reading. Acne is another one that I had problems with. I never hardly had anything as a teenager as far as acne, but when I was 23, it started to develop and man was it bad, up until the time I had my transplant. Also these are also side effects of prednisone, but they are not as severe as the problems caused by the AIH. Lori C. Guest guest
I was just thinking about the hairloss thing. I wonder if the thyroid is somehow affected by the autoimmune disease. Also, it seems to me I read somewhere that alopecia is one of the syptoms of Sjogrens Syndrom?? My memory is lacking so I may be wrong about that..I do know that thyroid disorders cause hairloss. I have noticed lately that I have a lot of hair falling out and it seems thin to me on top... Guest guest
Hi, Thyroid disease is most commonly called autoimmune thyroiditis. (It is not always autoimmune in nature). Also, other autoimmune illnesses, such as celiac, are related to thryoid problems most notably because the small intestine absorbs the necessary elements for the thyroid to function properly. Many celiac patients also go on to develop low thyroid.
