Guest guest
I agree 100%, I'm not a WC person but fought for disability, only reason I was able to get help while I was waiting for my disability to come thru was because I have a daughter. I looked at the guy on the other side of the desk at the welfare dept and said... I receive child support, the only thing I want from this office is medicaid so I can get better and get back to work (not knowing how bad my back really was at the time). He said the only reason I was approved to get medical insurance was b/c I have a daughter. Now tell me that isnt .. to be nice... screwed up!! Here I was, ordered off work by my doctor, wanting to get better to go back to work, and if I hadn't had my daughter I would have gotten no help from them. Makes no damn sense to me, the government does need some major changes. To add to a previous post, I agree, the ones caught on tape sky diving and bungee jumping are the ones that make us fight like hell for what we deserve. I tried contacting the govener of Ohio when I was fighting for my disability and I got no reply back. They don't give a shit, they get their paychecks and attend their parties that our tax money (when we were able to work) pay for.. I could go on but I don't want to sound like more of a biotch than the govt has made me over the last 2 years... ok, ok, I was one before that, but who wouldn't be the way this system is set up... Wow that felt good and I wasn't mad to begin with LMAO Hope you all have a good sleepful night, I'm on my second night of looking at no sleep but am used to it... will fill ya in later on the bad news on my end... just a little insight tho to put it as short as possible... my prescriptions for my pain pills (Duragesic patch alone costs over 250 for a 15 day supply) are no longer covered by medicaid. Why? Well, child support decided that the money my daughters dad owes in arrears needed to be upped... so for that extra $30/mo they are sending, I got cut off prescription ins. I'm trying to get them to not up it since it wasn't court ordered, wish me luck that I get these ppl on this asap as I have 18 days left on the patches I have, not to mention very low on my neurontin and percocet. Just when ya think things are gonna finally go right *WHAM bam no thank you ma'am* you get screwed... not the way I wanted to get screwed, have gotten screwed enough that way and I don't like it LOL Anyhow, sorry guess that short story told it all, again, sleep well everyone and take it easy Connie My two cents worth > Hello all, > I have been disabled now since 96'. Guest guest
Hi, I think what Vicki wrote was really beautiful and true. I am from a country which is not involved, but I think that right now every country in the world is kind of indirectly invovled and connected with these events with this war and in every corner of the world it's continuing to be the top news. Many people here are saying it could easily lead to World War III, so everyone's worried about the outcomes. I actually hate politics and it's certainly not my favorite subject to talk about, but since nobody can escape these big political events and everybody's only talking about it these days and weeks, I wanted to write my opinion in brief. Well, I can see both sides here and I can feel their fear, tragedies, hardships,sufferings... As some of you may recall, I lived through the war in my country for couple of years and because of this, I am so much AGAINST this horrible and totally unnecessary and unprovoked war. I know very well the smell of the war and it is the smell of fear, destruction, bloodshed.... Every time I hear the sounds of shooting and bomb- explosions over Iraq on TV live broadcast, it reminds me of the so familiar sounds from my childhood.... But, I really wouldn't want to sound pathetic now, so no more about this... But, on the other side, I have a family member in the US Army (my mom's cousin),being somewhere in Iraq now, so we're always so worried about every American soldier and we always think about them...It all does seem very far away from me, but we are all in this, I believe.... All I can say at the end, is that this war is a very SAD thing, happening in the beginning of the 21-st century and it seems that we learned so much, but it was too complicated to learn the lesson about getting rid of violence, stopping bloodshed and living in peace. And when I saw " we " , unfortunately, I mean on all humanity, not on any particular country... Radmila " I am against this particular war at this particular time. However, because my dad spent 25 years in the USAF as a career enlisted man, then retired and went to work in the Secretary of Defense's Office at the Pentagon for the past 20 years, I do feel a TREMENDOUS amount of respect and LOYALTY towards our armed forces. I am a product of that culture. I AM a military brat. On 9/11, my Dad was sitting at his desk in the Pentagon when the plane flew into it. For over 6 hours, I did not know if he was dead or alive. Luckily, the plane had hit the opposite side of the building, and he was physically fine. Following the tragedy, he was put in charge of coordinating the support services for the families of the victims....many who happened to be his friends. For 3 weeks, he spent 24/7 in a D.C. hotel overseeing everything from funeral arrangements, benefit enrollment, and insurance claim filing to pet therapy, day care coordination, and distributing donated Beanie Babies. Emotionally, this took its toll on my father, who had essentially given 42 years to serve his country and protect us. So, he retired last year. When we went to Afganhistan to fight Al Quaida, I was VERY happy. I believe that IT IS the war that we should be fighting to insure the future security of many countries. Bin Laden, and his terrorist network, has killed more people worldwide than has Hussein. That is factual. That is where our troops should be. So, when the talk started about us going to war with Iraq, I was confused. I thought, why are we going to war with them when all CIA sources claim that Hussein refuses to associate with Bin Laden. Those sources have repeatedly pointed out that the two ARE NOT linked. So, I wondered, if it's because we need to free the Iraqi people from a ruthless regime, then why haven't we done the same in many other third world countries who suffer at the hands of tyranny? It didn't make sense to me......so I asked an expert.......I asked my Dad. According to my dad, Iraqi does not, nor has it ever, posed a threat to the national security of the United States. He said right now we should be leery of the lunatic in North Korea with the atomic bombs pointed at our West Coast. Instead, Dad claims that this campaign is propaganda put out by the Bush Administration...a vendetta you might call it...to raise the President's popularity points (which were slipping drastically nearly two years post 9/11). It is also about corporate control of oil (the Bush family business). According to my Dad, who still has deep ties to the Pentagon, this war is not necessary....and surely not worth sabotaging our diplomatic ties! He also pointed out the obvious....our occupation of Iraq will feed the fire of every radical terrorist organization and give them a reason for possible attacks. I agree with that we should bring democracy to oppressed countries. There are many countries where we should be doing EXACTLY that. I'm not sure, though, that we have been told the truth by this administration when it comes to THIS war. I think that the Bush camp has manipulated the truth to frighten American's into thinking that we are in danger if we don't wipe out Hussein. The administration has played on our emotions and sense of patriotism to pursue Bush's personal interests. If you don't support the President, they tell us, then you're un-American! Well, I believe that statement is crap, and it is our right AND DUTY to be critical of the man who is in our employment. In closing, this war will not only cost many people on both sides to lose their lives, but it will probably cost American's with disabilities to lose their independence. Already Medicaid is in grave jeopardy to being cut to cover the deficit Energy Budget. Can you guys imagine what they're going to do to us when the get the final bill for the war? Goodbye attendant care! Just my two cents worth....thanks for letting me vent guys! Vicki "
Guest guest
Carol, Your 2 cents are worth a million. You have slowly been empowered to take contol of your particular health issues by having access to enough information to ask intelligent questions. I guess it is the power of the internet...and some doctors might be threatened becasue you actually know enough about your condition to aske fairly pointed questions...but I found after I got past the local " live with it " ortho and on to the surgeons who had solutions (and track records) that they liked being asked the specifics. I kind of imagine that if I was a doctor proposing surgery of this magnitude that I would be very happy to have a patient show up that had some idea of what the heck I was talking about...not just taking my word for it! You will surely be the better for having taken your time sorting through all the info and posts and getting the info you need to move ahead! I am sure I am not the only one looking forwad to hearing all about your visit with DrHu in August. Keep us all posted. Take Care, Cam
Guest guest
Carol, Thank you for posting this. It's priceless. You have captured so much in this post in words that those of us " on the other side " can't quite form, but relate to perfectly. I know these words will be meaningful to many facing this malady. They mean a lot to me! Bless you for taking the time to share from your heart. kam
