Guest guest
Hi Janelle, welcome to the group! I'm also from the Seattle area (Kirkland), and have had a rough time of it the past two weeks, or I'd of welcomed you sooner. Drop me a line and tell me about yourself! LoriRosenberg@... Guest guest
Lori, There seems to be quite a few Seattle-vicinity members in this group. We lived in Seattle and Mukilteo for 17 years, moved to the Bay Area, then to Europe, then back to Seattle in late 1993, settling first in Everett then spent the last year in Ballard. When my husband had a two surgeries and a heart attack and I had two surgeries all within a 2 year period, we decided that we'd better move someplace where the cost of living was lower. Now we're in Las Vegas, have a house we love, and I think we made the right move (for us.) I was diagnosed with AIH after we moved here and unfortunately, there are limited medical resources in Nevada, so my primary AIH care is done through Scripps in LaJolla, California. I just found out today from my insurance company that they don't approve any liver transplant facilities in Oregon or Washington. They do approve three in California (UCSF, Cedars-Sinai and Green Hospital at Scripps), Baylor in Texas or University Hospital in Denver. If I want a second opinion, which may happen someday, I have to go to one of them (or any one of several others, but all farther away from Nevada than the above). I have no idea whether the fact that they don't approve any facility in Washington or Oregon is based on medical factors or financial, but they do require a very high success ratio. Just wanted to comment on this because I've worried since diagnosis that I might have found better medical care in Seattle. There are some excellent doctors there, but I've never really had to test their expertise. Take care, Geri

This website is funded in part by the CDC, who also reviews all the medical and technical information on the site. Some of the advisors listed are familiar names: Neal A. Halsey, MD, L. Katz, MD, A. Offit, MD and Walter A. Orenstein, MD. There are others, but I think you catch the drift. I am confident we will extend to her a courteous welcome as we have to all list members. Guest guest
I believe the correct website is www.immunize.org. Just don't want anyone else to think that they are going crazy when it doen't come up :-). Welcome, Ms. . Hopefully, you can bring back some of our information and stories to those with whom you work. I find you courageous and that in itself is a good sign. Guest guest
FWIW - I put a link up to their site on www.evidenceofharm.com in my " resources " section, about 2 months ago (as well as CDC, FDA, AAD, IOM etc). I think it is very important for everyone to read what people are saying on all sides of this controversy. Telling just one side of a dispute is like witnessing a head-on collision -- and trying to interview only one of the drivers. dk Re: Janelle I believe the correct website is www.immunize.org. Guest guest
And if he witnessed it, there's no need for any interviews. > > > Telling just one side of a dispute is like witnessing a head-on > > collision -- and trying to interview only one of the drivers. > > > > But it's a hit-and-run.
