Guest guest
What are the symptoms of excess T4? My original labs prior to treatment was: TSH 2.4 (.3 - 5.5) i know old range FT4 1.5 (.8 - 1.8) ideal range I was still prescribed 25mcg synthroid (as I was symptomatic and family history). felt some positive effects in beginning but now have gone downhill somewhat. i haven't had an erection in almost a week (sorry for details). anyway, uptake of thryoid gland came back and it looked very normal. I'm gonna discontinue synthroid as I obviously don't need it. I imagine taking it for 27 days didn't shut down my own system of making T4...probably didn't even disrupt it. I'm thinking it increased my T4 too high causing other issues. Think thats the case? And no...I don't believe I need more meds...or higher dosage..or armour. My progestorone level is near the bottom of it's range at 0.4 (0.3 - 1.2). Im waiting on my endo's suggestion...though I think progesterone natural cream will help to get it to normal healthy level. Any thoughts? --------------------------------- Bring photos to life! New PhotoMail makes sharing a breeze.
Guest guest
my only thought is that TSH is toooo high further probs down the road. The fact that you had a positive response and then nothing means you need more (of a different med). Gracia > What are the symptoms of excess T4? Guest guest
I think you have to get a lot more specific in your understanding of what is wrong with you - list the symptoms and compare them to a range of " illnesses " (for want of a better word - I prefer symptoms of imbalance) and rule out what you don't have. It really does not matter one bit what your tests tell you if you have classic symptoms of hypothyroid and you have ruled out copy cat syndromes. Now how you treat it is the creative part and entirely you choice and responsibility! If you are not too ill then there is a range of possibilities from Homeopathy, naturopathy, acupuncture diet and supplements etc which can work if your body is still strong enough to heal itself - it sounds like yours is. If you already know about the progesterone then just try it - do nothing else and then see what's left to treat. Treatment has to be systematic whether using conventional or natural medicine - go by how you feel not by lab results. IMO you just need to trust yourself a bit more - put aside your concerns about libido until you get your balance back - it will probably come right then and in the meantime stressing about it will only make it worse. kind regards, Kerry Excess T4? Guest guest
I didn't mean to put anyone off trying Alvidar - it sounds like a decent enough supplement but I can tell you, by looking at the ingredients, I can't see it helping you to lose weight. It might be a good thyroid supplement though - anyone tried it? I know others on this board use some good ones. myself I take selenium and iodine as well as T4 and T3. Kerry Re: Excess T4? Guest guest
Browneyedlady and Beth, Your symptoms are consistent with not enough T4. It takes up to six months to gradually ramp up the dosage, a process called titration. If you are having symptoms on the first dosage, the first stage of titration, you need to be patient until the process is completed. Guest guest
Thank you Chuck. You were right in the beginning....I'm don't have hypothyroidism. slightly elevated THS levels...maybe...but not enough that warrants meds. also, uptake of gland looks perfectly normal. also FT4 was in higher range to begin with. Thanks Chuck B <gumboyaya@...> wrote: Jack, You wrote: >....I imagine taking it for 27 days didn't shut down my own system of making > T4...probably didn't even disrupt it. ... Not at 25 mcg.
