Guest guest
Hi Robin! Welcome to the group! I think you've got the absolutely correct attitude: it's not about EAS or anyone - it's YOUR body for life. Keep in mind that they doubtlessly get THOUSANDS of requests for registration packages so it's not surprising some fall through the cracks. I'm almost a month into this challenge and I still don't have this round's package. (That's okay cuz I don't really have a " before " pic either - I know I know...i should...but I didn't have anyone to take it). Forget that there's a contest involved - be the best you that you can be and the rest will follow... Good luck on your challenge!!! > Hello! > I'm really glad I found this group! Guest guest
Welcome Robin. I'm glad you've joined us. I truely believe this group and all we have to offer you will be of incredible benefit to your transformation. I'm a social worker working on my masters degree and I couldn't help but take a moment to mention something about what you said. You said that you wonder why you quit when you are doing so well and love that you are on track and eating well and exercising. I have seen that some people sabotage themselves out of fear of success and acomplishment. Sometimes it looks a little more like, " everything always goes wrong for me, and this time won't be any different " and with thoughts like that you will look for things to be wrong or create them to be wrong just to fulfill your self-prophesy. I challenge you, for once in your life, to accept that things will be uncomfortable and different. Acknowledge your daily victories. Focus on progress, not perfection....that's a favorite mantra around these parts on the internet. I wish you peace, serenity, and success! I'm here for you, as everyone else will be here for you too!!! -
Guest guest
-Welcome Robin. You do not have to wait to receive your packet to start, just register on line with your start date. You only need your packet at the end then send it in. So don't let that stop you. Now get ready and start your challenge--don't waste another min. to reach your goals. Guest guest
I'm 33 & trying to get this under control. Anyone have any advice? Doctor doesn't seem to think all of my symptoms are related, but he can't find anything else wrong with me. He keeps telling me I'm normal, whatever that means. Guest guest
It's all related. It's not your imagination. The best book I ever read was " The Thyroid Sourcebook " by M. Sara Rosenthal. It puts everything into perspective. The more you learn about hypothyroidism, the better you will be able to take care of yourself. Listen to your body. You know yourself better than anybody. Find a doctor who understands the situation and is open to your ideas. The doctor who diagnosed my hypothyroidism couldn't manage the illness over the long haul. He was good at diagnosing, but didn't understand the complete problem. There are many syndromes that are connected to having hypothyroidism. You may have several yourself, I do. Just remember, you are not a hypochondriac. There is something wrong with your immune system and you're not crazy. The biggest step is getting diagnosed. Good luck and God bless. Guest guest
Sally, What other T4 medications are there that are popular, besides Synthroid and Levoxyl, (the synthetic of Synthroid)? I'm in the trial stage now. Thanks Love and take good care, Reneé and Jerry
Guest guest
There are two other drugs Levothroid and Eltroxin. I don't know anything about these though. The main rule regarding thyroid medications as far as I know is to stay with the same drug. Don't switch around. My doctor took it slow and easy with increasing my dosages. Probably too slow. My father was diagnosed last year and his doctor put him on too high a dosage at the start and he had problems. I've also heard recently that you shouldn't drink grapefruit juice if you are on thyroid replacement therapy. I'm not sure why though. One of the issues I'm dealing with right now is the fluctuation of levels between the ages of 40-50. I guess it has something to do with perimenopause/menopause? I think that my hypothyroidism resulted from the birth of my second child. I have 0+ blood type. My husband and boys are B+. Both kids had ABO incompatibility at birth with jaundice. My symptoms began right after the second one was born but it took 6 years to get a diagnosis. I think the doctors just thought I was nuts. Me being a woman and all. Bye. Guest guest
Sally, I will check into those drugs. If they are in the same class, T4, should be compatible with the Synthroid, etc.? If you are discounted as being a " female " then maybe you need another dr. I am 42, and perimenopausal too. Men drs.don't understand !! )) Thanks Love and take good care, Reneé and Jerry
Guest guest
Sally, I looked in my book, and i think Levothroid and ltroxin are generic of Synthroid. They are pretty much the same drug. I agree 100% to always start on a LOW dose, and increase every 2 months. I beilve with any drug, that should be done. Well, thank you, and hope you are feeling better. Love and take good care, Reneé and Jerry
